— random ask by @kleinewahines . Was Vi hovering? A little bit. Just a teensy bit over one shoulder. As if waiting... waiting... NOW. "Hey do you have a new pen? Mine ran out of ink for some crazy reason." Probably from writing out absolutely nothing work-related and managing to put down more words on paper than they had the whole fucking year. For reasons. Good ones. Probably.

IF CAITLYN IS TO BE QUITE HONEST , she usually stops paying complete full attention to what she is currently doing when vi even remotely walks in the door. THERE IS ALWAYS A PART OF HER ATTENTION THAT BELONGS TO VI . as is a woman that rearranged half of how she sees and approaches life so that she could make a relationship work with a brawler.

it's the way caitlyn's lips instantly turn into an amused , little smile the very moment vi starts talking. SHE WAS JUST WAITING FOR IT , HONESTLY . an eyebrow raises , actually. 'for some crazy reason' doesn't sound like any crazy reason. caitlyn leans forward to reach for the pen holder that happens to have a lot of extra pens before leaning back in her chair. she holds it up , but her hand is wrapped around it so that it wouldn't necessarily be easy for vi to just take it.

{⚙️}: It wasn’t incredibly often that Viktor ventured back down into the Undercity anymore. Not out of distaste, but simply lack of time. He had become completely engrossed in his work the moment he had partnered with Talis, and rarely ever left the lab, let alone Piltover.

Today, however, he had been in desperate need of a break. Just a few moments away from everything that had been going on as of late. Jayce’s new Councilor position, and subsequent shifting away from Hextech. Viktor’s own declining health and growing loneliness, desperation. The increasing tension between Piltover and Zaun. It was all weighing on him, sitting heavily upon already weakened shoulders.

When he had returned to the Undercity, planning on taking a simple walk, he had not been expecting to be run into by someone. Quite literally.

Slowly, he sat up, pressing a hand to his head as he groaned. His crutch had skittered across the ground, laying not overly far from where he now sat. Blinking, frowning, he looked up to determine with who he had collided. Someone with pink hair, tattoos. Had they been running away from something?

“Is this how you greet every stranger you meet, or should I be honored?”

The static. Jinx had heard it for so many years now. Whenever she attempted to reach past it, it only grew louder. Those attempts were best left to the past, though. They resided there as she ignored the idea that Vi could ever come back. No one came back from the dead. The ghosts were proof of that. They encircled her, whispering to her, asking her why she was such a foolish girl. A JINX.

Then, the static cleared. Jumbled, because she wasn’t focusing on it, but one word did rise through the mess. 

Powder. Powder Powder Powder. A name that had been left for dead. 

Vi and Mylo still used it for her, of course they did. They didn’t like the idea of letting go. Whenever she asked them to their faces would get so jagged, raw and sharp, telling her just from expression alone that they would never leave her. It brought no sense of solace, not when their presence loomed over every waking moment.

Unlike the others, Vi was always there. Mostly a voice in her head, whispering to her just like she used to when she was full of life. It had been a warm embrace, at first, but things never lasted. Not when this Vi was so ugly, so full of disgust towards her sister. YOU’RE JUST A JINX!!!

She held the flare high above her own head, unsure of why she’d even come to this decision. An attempt to lure a ghost back to her? Yet the static had never broken apart like that, not for a name, not for anything. Even dead Vi’s voice barely talked over the static, like she wasn’t real, like she had died a long time ago.

< Powder, Powder, Powder, > she thought back to the break in the silence, a mockery towards the way her old name had been so freshly unraveled in her mind. Then, she responded, crystal clear and near-laughing: < Vi. >

‘I  like  your  smile,’    is  always  different  when  it’s  someone  you  love.   Sometimes  it’s  just  the  elite  making  nice  with  the  Kiramman  daughter  or  wondering  why  the  Kiramman  heir  decided  to  join  the  Enforcers  when  she  could  have  ~~so  much.   And,   Caitlyn  supposes,  those  are  so  damn  trivial  compared  to  what  Vi  grew  up  with  in  Zaun.   At  least  she’s  aware  of  their  glaring  difference  --  that  doesn’t  seem  to  matter  in  most  instances  they’re  together.   Most.

There’s  humor  in  everything  Vi  is  saying  and  Caitlyn  is  aware,   sometimes  she  mocks  her  own  people.   Caitlyn’s  just  always  been  wildly  independent  of  the  Kiramman  duties  and  Piltover  customs.   She  feminine,   comfortable  as  so  in  dresses  and  heels,   but  she  blends  masculinity  and  femininity  together  so  well.    She’s  still  smiling,  tooth  gap  and  all.   And,   she  just  doesn’t  want  Vi  to  think  that  Caitlyn  is  trying  to  change  them  into  some  Piltie,  so  Caitlyn  just  never  offers  these  things.  Hopefully,  with  the  amount  of  times  they  work  together  and  are  seen  together  otherwise,   that  doesn’t  translate  to:   I  don’t  want  to  show  you  off.   Caitlyn’s  now  other  free  hand  rests  on  Vi’s  stomach,  just  above  the  waistband  of  her  pants,  fingers  lightly  tucking  under  Vi’s  shirt.   She  really  is  looking  at  Vi  like  they  hung  the  moon. 

“   You  want  to  eat  out?   Like,   I  don’t  know,   possibly  a  date?   ”    A  pause,  fingers  still  running  through  Vi’s  hair.     “   I  know  this  really  quaint  place.   It’s  quiet   ...   and  I  actually  think  you’d  really  like  it.   ”     Caitlyn’s  voice  is  soft.   It’s  simply  a  rooftop  restaurant  with  a  nice  view.

@kleinewahines​ :      A hand pokes idly at the scar sitting over their eye. A lopsided smile. “I got a few scratches and dents. I hope they just give me character.” A pause. "So, tell me, Cupcake, what say getting a few more? Yea? Nay?"

There’s exactly two seconds in which Caitlyn looks up from her desk and there’s genuine concern written in blue eyes  --  but then she remembers that she’s talking to Vi,  her significant other who always just makes jokes like this.   Caitlyn stands up from her chair,  walks around the desk,  sits on the edge.   Doesn’t bother crossing thighs or ankles,  she’s always wearing shorts under the awful design of the Enforcer uniform   ( she’s honestly trying to get it changed,  it’s a tradition that needs to be nixed ).    Caitlyn smiles.     “   While I think they add a certain charm to your looks,   you definitely should avoid getting anymore.   ”

“   Vi,   ”     Caitlyn  breathes  out,   somehow  already  knowing  calling  Vi’s  name  isn’t  going  to  work.    She’s  crawling  to  her  feet,   partially  gloved  fingers  reaching  up  to  touch  the  new  scratch  running  across  her  cheek.   She  rolls  her  shoulders,   determines  that  for  a  bunch  of  rubble  nearly  falling  on  her,   she’s  actually  quite  fine.   She  can  even  walk,   no  new  scars  developing  along  her  legs.     “   Vi!   ”

Caitlyn  bends  to  pick  up  the  rifle  near  Vi,   before  walking  around  Vi  --  who  looked  like  she  was  somewhere  else.   Somewhere  distant.   She’s  seen  that  look  so  many  times   ...   Caitlyn’s  starting  to  understand,   a  good  detective  does.    Caitlyn’s  free  hand,   the  one  without  the  rifle,   reaches  up  to  grip  Vi’s  chin,   tilts  her  head  to  look  more  clearly  at  Caitlyn.     “   I  need  my  partner,   Vi.    Please.   ”
