Pairings/Characters: Kurtina (platonic), Klaine and Tike. With mentioning of Sam and Adam.
Summary: Kurt and Tina's talk at Will and Emma's wedding. Inspired by this and this.
Kurt was serving himself to some strawberry punch Mr. Schue decided to have at his wedding for the ‘kids’ to drink since he knew the effect alcohol had on them. He took a sip of the pink drink and scrunched his face in disgust.
“Hey, Kurt!” Tina squealed a little too high.
Kurt was startled “Hi!” he returned jumping on his feet and spilling a bit of the punch, thank god he was holding the cup way far from his body or his whole fabulous outfit would be ruined. He decided that putting the drink away was the best decision.
“You seem a little distracted, is everything okay?” the girl asked.
Oh, everything’s more than okay, Kurt thought to himself remembering what had just happened a few moments before.
“Kurt!!” Tina snapped bringing the boy off of his dream and Kurt caught himself staring at Blaine again, like his eyes couldn't keep from wondering all over Blaine’s figure, that, for his concern, was especially irresistible that night.
“ I'm sorry, Tina. Yeah, everything’s great!” Kurt said catching his bottom lip between his teeth.
“Good! Look, Kurt… I-I wanted to tell you something.” Tina said nervously, her fingers playing with the fabric of her dress.
“Oh sure, shoot!” the boy returned smiling.
“Kurt, you know you’re one of my best friends and that I would never purposely do anything that could hurt you, right?”
He nodded.
“Well, something happened that I couldn’t really control. I’m in love with Blaine.” She blurted out this last part looking down at her feet like she was ashamed.
Kurt giggled and Tina shot her head up in surprise. “Yeah, Blaine told me about it.” He said letting out a few more giggles.
Tina’s already flushed cheeks turned a tone pinker. “I-I… You-u a-aren’t m-mad?” She stuttered, cursing herself later for letting the stuttering take the best of her.
“No! Of course not! I mean, how could I blame you? I was in your shoes not 2 years ago” the boy smiled. “Still am, to be honest.” He admitted.
“Thank God!” She sighed in relieve. “Er… What else did he say?” Tina asked.
“He told me about Sadie Hawkins, the Warblers cheating at sectionals and how kick ass him and Sam were at finding all the evidence. He told me about Sam failing his SATS and becoming obsessed with his body, the calendar and that it was your idea” Tina smiled at the fact that Blaine had mentioned the calendar was her idea. “How he helped Sam on his application for a scholarship… He even asked me to record Santana singing Trouty Mou-“ Kurt was cut by a loud snort that escaped Tina’s mouth.
“So, I guess you know then.” She said trying to contain the laughter.
“Hm, know what?” Kurt asked confused.
“That Blaine’s totally crushing on Sam.” She said finally letting out the laugh that she tried so hard not to.
Kurt’s mouth fell open in a “O” shape. “He what?” Kurt felt his eyes turn once again to find Blaine. He was talking with Sam, their faces way too close for Kurt’s pleasing and he felt his heart broke. Tina realized Kurt didn't know about it yet and she felt extremely guilty to have said it and on top of that laughed at the situation.
“I didn't think he’d move on that fast.” Kurt mumbled. His eyes still fixed on Blaine and Sam.
“Well, didn't you?” Tina asked. “ Didn't you go on a couple of dates with that Adam guy you told me about?”
“It’s different.” Kurt said finally facing Tina.
“How is it different? Because you expected Blaine to be your puppy? To follow you around everywhere? Because you think he’d never love anyone else besides you?” Tina said almost screaming, if it wasn't for the background music everyone in the room would have heard it.
“That was rude.” Kurt said frowning. “It’s not like that, at all!” Kurt returned sharply.
Tina sighed. “You’re right, Kurt, that was totally inappropriate. I'm sorry” She apologized looking at her feet once again.
“Is everything okay, Tina?” Kurt asked in a caring tone, approaching her and settling a hand on her arm.
“It’s just that I really miss Mike.” She said keeping the tears that were forming on her eyes from falling.
“Oh, honey!” Kurt whimpered involving the girl into a warm hug. Just like Blaine, Tina fit perfectly under Kurt’s embrace. The boy hooked his chin over her head and patted her back gently.
“All that stuff you think I think about Blaine… Is that what you think Mike thinks about you?” Kurt asked in a loving way.
Tina let out a sob to Kurt’s neck and sniffled before pulling back from the hug. “I feel like he just expected me to be with him forever, you know? But he didn't even make any effort to make me feel loved or wanted in the last few months of our relationship.”
Kurt strangely understood what Tina said because he was Mike in the last few months of his relationship with Blaine too. He led Tina to a couple of chairs that stood empty at the corner of the room.
After they sat, Tina started “Blaine adores you, Kurt, but he has so much love to give and you're not there to accept it then he has to find someone else to give it to.” Tina said clearing the tears of her cheeks.
Kurt nodded, clearly seeing a mirroring between his and Blaine's relationship and Tina and Mike's. Adding then “You know Mike loves you, Tina. But sometimes, when things don't look bright it's easier to just let it go. Maybe he thought that he wasn't good enough for you and that you deserved someone better than him. And I can assure that he felt guilty for not giving you the attention you wanted, but he probably felt, himself, like he couldn't give you all you deserved.” He said, his eyes looking for Blaine once again, only this time he found Blaine looking back. A huge grin on his face that made him look like a five year-old, a grin Kurt loved and had missed so much. The moment their eyes met, he knew that that grin was because and for Kurt and, then, he remembered how seeing Blaine happy because of him was the most amazing feeling in the world. So, he finished “But I can also assure you, Tina, that though Mike let go of you because he wanted you to be happy, seeing you happy because of him will always be the most gratifying feeling he'll ever have.”
Tina stood up pulling Kurt close into a hug. When she pulled away it was her eyes that searched for Mike, the smile on her face turning even bigger as she saw him doing some kind of improvised routine along to Mr Schue's rapping. “I don't think I'm in love with Blaine anymore.” she said confidently.
“I think I'm more in love with him than I've ever been.” Kurt returned.
