LoSH Appreciation Week Day 1 - Favorite Character
When I entered organized Legion fandom through the APA Interlac, I named my first fanzine Proty I. This was followed by Proty II, Proty III... through Proty XI. In an excess of fannish enthusiasm I also joined another Legion APA called Klordny where my zine was called Orbiting Antares for the fact that the protean creatures came from a planet in the Antares system.
Flashforward many years later when I rejoined Interlac and began a new zine called A Tale of Two Proties. In addition to many cover appearances the Proties occasionally played the role of zine mascots who would interject criticism of my zine writing skills or the events being discussed. When I ran for election to run the APA, the Proties were seen endorsing my campaign in exchange for a bribe.
So Proty I and Proty II are among my favorite characters, and certainly play a central role in my Legion fanac.
