LoSH Appreciation Week Day 4 - Substitute Heroes

After the Great Darkness Saga, after Violet's Story, after Omen & Prophet, the deadly return of the Legion of Super Villains, the Trial of Ontiir, and The Curse, there was The Legion of Substitute Heroes Special.

The Subs were never supposed to be played for laughs, but after taking the Subs and the entire Legion universe seriously during the Great Darkness saga, something had changed. Maybe it was a result of the burnout from doing that damned Legion poster with everybody ever, but come 1985 Giffen was ready for something completely different.

It has a rather ludicrous portrayal of the Subs.

An unexpected change for Color Kid.

They even throw in Tusker and Eyeful Ethel from the Rejects.

And I guess Pulsar Stargrave was overdue for ridicule.

I enjoyed it, but your mileage could certainly vary.

So, I've been meaning to draw some fanart for this show ever since I rewatched it around christmas. It used to be one of my favorite cartoons as a kid, and my first introduction to the DC universe and I love saturn girl a lot.

(Ok, admittedly I'm not sure if this fits the promt 100% because I had already done the sketch before finding out about the week. So it's more about the power than the perks haha.)
