for the neighbourhood writer asks: 5, 14, & 26
Thanks Katie! <3
5. Where do you get your title inspiration from?
This depends! I'm a big user of lines from poetry (see, e.g., that trick is just to hold on (and so we do) which is titled from Shapechangers in Winter by Margaret Atwood, and (how could i) look at anything in this world and tremble, which takes its title from "Little Summer Poem Touching the Subject of Faith" by Mary Oliver). Both Mary Oliver and Ada Limón have provided more than one title, in fact. I also like song lyrics, like for that i might not have (but i did not lose), titled from "Stick Season" by Noah Kahan, and what some circumstance stole, title from "Orpheus" by Vincent Lima. And I like math and physics concept titles, too! I really love these when the math/science process is a good mirror for the story of the fic. I think I have only two of these: measurement problem (titled after the quantum physics problem described by Schrodinger's Cat, and about a similar uncertainty), and proof by contradiction (titled after a math process of proving a statement by showing its opposite is impossible, and about disproving your assumptions about a person).
14. What is something you really like about your work(s)?
When I write fanfiction, I'm writing fanfiction; characterization is really important to me, and I want the character's voices to sound like their voices. So I'm always happy when I reread something I wrote and I can really hear the dialogue in the character's voices.
26. What is your favorite part about writing?
I love the moment when the last piece of it clicks into place, or when something I wrote earlier seems to perfectly present itself to be called back to. Finding a good structure.
Send me an ask for this ask meme (or in general, I guess!).
