Approaching the Baphuon on the sandstone walkway, you can only imagine how spectacular it must have been in the glory days of the Khmer Empire, when it was part of the ancient city of Angkor Thom. A symbolical representation of Mount Meru, the temple mountain was demolished in the late 15th century and put back together piece by piece.
