busy falling in love with Joe Sample's music because I heard a song off of Rainbow Seeker on KMHD a month-ish ago - Fly With Wings of Love. This song keeps getting stuck in my head.

I'm going to talk about a local radio station for a sec, but on the Portland jazz station they're playing jazz/r&b/soul covers of all the songs on the White Album. Even Wild Honey Pie.
KMHD, hitting me squarely in the intersection of my interests.
I’ve always loved this #LPcover! This lp belongs to someone at #kmhd who is not me. HOWEVER, I will be playing something by #AndrePrevin tonight on my own show. He passed away earlier this year https://www.instagram.com/p/B6jorMXhw2y/?igshid=cchzxrbe8dm4
one of the DJs on the jazz radio station signs off with "let's do this again tomorrow, in a different way" and I love that

Tril, do you have a jazzy playlist on spotify you'd be willing to share?
Most of the time when I'm listening to jazz, it's on the radio. The Portland jazz station, KMHD, is really fantastic, and I have it on 90% of the time when I'm driving, and fairly often at home too. They also play a mix of hip hop, r&b, soul, blues, and all the things that exist in the orbit of jazz and its history.
I did find this spotify playlist from the station's program director, of all their favorite new jazz singles for 2021. It's pretty cool!
Part of the reason I enjoy producing theme radio shows is that it requires me to sit down and spend some real time with the music, examining it from a specific perspective. A music lover can learn a lot that way. . For example, while I was putting together the show that's broadcasting on #KMHD right now, I realized the #RollingStones clearly preferred music made by men. Or at least they preferred to cover music originally recorded by men. The only song they released (that I could find) that was originally recorded by a woman was "Oh Baby" by #BarbaraLynn. They did cover "Time is On My Side" which was recorded by #IrmaThomas prior to the Stones, but she wasn't the first to record the song. That honor goes to #KaiWinding. . This was probably the most male-oriented radio show I've ever produced. . #soulmusic #60sSoul https://www.instagram.com/p/CTV8V1qH1wh/?utm_medium=tumblr
