Hey a while back you made a Native American oc bingo card, is it bad if you do, do some of them? Like my character is a demon but also Native American? More or less I want to be respectful and not be rude. So yeah
It kinda depends. Some tropes are bad on their own (Redskinned, that’s a definite no-no), and some are pretty innocent on their own (”Wears leather”, who doesn’t love leather jackets?). My bingo card post wasn’t made to be a guideline for “100% non-offensive character creating”, and the tropes listed isn’t even a complete list. It was a satire post for natives to laugh at a lot of ways people create native characters because it’s a reflection of the way they actually see native people in real life, or imagine them, and usually about how little they actually know about native people. It’s more important that you look at your character and examine WHY you associate certain tropes characteristics with them, and do something about it if it comes out to be negative. Also, research helps lots.
