I watched Mulan today while making lunch and I had a Vision – the apothecary diaries mulan AU where maomao dresses like a man, freckles and all, poisons herself but also the Huns, saves China and Jinshi's ass with Lihaku, Lahan and Basen and no one suspects her because their own general is prettier than their wives. Bonus points if Lakan thinks that one soldier Jinshi's so attached to reminds him of someone. Extra bonus points if Jinshi sings when will my reflection show who I am inside

KnH AU Week(s) Event!

Begins August 23, 2026 and will run until September 5, 2026

Rules/ What to Expect:

The event will be running for two weeks, with each prompt having two days to post (or work on if you're a procrastinator like me lol)

No word count limit/ restrictions, write how ever much or little you want

Traditional seven prompts with a "free space" prompt if you're not sure you can pull off one of the other ones

Can be for any ship you like, or you don't have to ship anyone at all

Please no "Dead Dove: Do Not Eat" or "Character Death" tags, I'd like to be able to read everyone's stories

Most importantly, have fun! This is a chance to explore the characters and their personalities in an alternative universe (AU)

I'll eventually have a collection made for this, which I'll reblog with the link too lol

i've decided to mix two of my interests together... apothecary diaries modern AU x wind breaker

- Maomao lives on the outskirts of the red light district, but does work at The Madame's club as a psudeo-doctor for the women there

- Loumen takes Haruka in when he's 10 and Maomao is 15

- Haruka and Maomao do not get along at first, bickering frequently with Maomao often manhandling Haruka in a headlock when he's being bratty

- this eventually show of affection doesn't stop, but Maomao is more careful with what she does to Haruka as he can get rather triggered by certain actions that put him into fight mode

- Haruka doesn't stop fighting, and Maomao can't help since she's mostly with her older sisters while Haruka's at school, but she does offer to (non-lethally) poison his classmates for him

- when Haruka starts attending Makochi, Maomao is kinda nervous (but she doesn't admit it), but remembers that Xiaolan lives there so she's less nervous

- Haruka keeps her updated on everything that happens, Maomao doesn't use her phone often (despite Jinshin begging her to), but she does take time to answer Haruka's texts

- when Gravel and Roppo Ichiza fight, Maomao makes her debute to Haruka's friends... by immediately scolding him and putting him into a headlock while yelling that he had Loumen and their sisters worried to hell and back

- Maomao shows up more often, per the request of Haruka's classmates (especially Nirei), and immediately Tsuge and Anzai are almost poisoned after eating some food Maomao had on her

- she also opts out of telling them stories about Haruka, as that's not her place and she doesn't want to make Haruka self-concious

- the group also meet Jinshi, and Haruka immediately talks down to him (much to Nirei's chagrin since Jinshi is apart of a well known family), but Jinshi doesn't mind only fauning over Maomao and her adorable little brother (he calls Haruka: Little Haru)

idk, i just want Maomao and her weird family to adopt Haruka

(also yes, Haruka gains a poison tolerance like Maomao)

this was part of a mini zine I made for a stamp rally around the fashion in and around apothecary diaries

the apothecary diaries prequel au (?) (but also not really, since the mcs will be different) where Fengxian isn't a courtesan, but a strategist for a foreign country. her country is at war with the royal capital, where Lakan is the grand commandant. the story has a dark premise as both are eccentrics who treat the battlefield as a go or shogi board, casually playing with the lives of their people like pieces.

each skirmish pushes the other to their limits, leading to an on-and-off series of wins and losses. this drags the war on for so long, but they don't gaf. both eventually start getting intrigued with the other until it develops into this sick, twisted, almost psychotic desire to meet. they're in love at this point 100%.

with the unending war and resources (they ran out of soldiers lmao), neither side can send more to the battle. they can't risk sending their kings, so Fengxian and Lakan take it upon themselves to meet on the battlefield. atp both are already dangerously bewitched with each other, and tensions are high. there, they'll battle it out sexily using their respective board games, and whoever wins earns the right to kill their opponent and conquer the opposing nation.
