A new adult services librarian means renewal of a fiber arts group. Had to cast on a travel project for the first meeting tonight. Socks, right?
Can't believe there was no suitable WIP 😂

28/1.2025 (2) - the wonderful ladies at the knitting group helped me learn to make the berries on my holly sweater!
does anyone know how i might get the ball rolling on a local knitting/crocheting/fiber arts get together group? ive not heard of one around my town and searching on the local facebook page turns up nothing so i do think there could be demand for it. im thinking maybe i post in the town facebook group and see if there's interest, maybe ask the library if it can be held there? i have never put anything like this together so advice from people who have or who are part of something similar would be appreciated
Heading down town to my afternoon knitters group. I have a project that I'll probably finish on the train on my way down there, plus my sweater packed in my bag. We got donated a bunch of yarn, so a lot of us are knitting scarves, hats, mitts, and stuff like that for homeless shelters. I did a couple cowl scarves this week.
lol trans people aren’t even safe in fiber arts what the fuck why did some lady at the knit/crochet group I went to tonight, not 30 minutes in, bring up how her having trans grandkids is soooooo hard and using pronouns doesn’t make sense
i want to make it exponentially clear all we were doing was knitting or crocheting and talking about names (like if we’d met someone with ours/a similar name, etc), I wasn’t talking I was just listening and all I talked about at all was introducing myself and the blanket I’m making for my niece. In no way shape or form did I indicate being trans, and without verbally doing so I am stealth.
People literally do not care what they are saying or who they are around they will hate trans people even in the ‘safest’ spaces.
My most recent knitting project: a blanket to represent a safe place for mental health related things like processing feelings of anger, sadness, shame... Also to accept yourself for who you are, accepting your faults and learning from your mistakes in life to grow as a person from reflecting on your response to events in life to improve them to make better decisions in response to life's present and future events.
Witchy knits is up on ravelry
Head on over and join. If you have any suggestions for threads or whatnot let me know
