Kitchener Stitch on 2x2 Rib

So I recently had to do some kitchener stitch on 2 x 2 rib. There are loads of resources out there, but for me personally, they often don't work as a quick reference. Like I read the article, I watch the video and then when I sit down I have to scroll about to find the step I am on. Here is what I noted down for me as a quick glance reference:

1st stich (K) front needle purlwise 1st stitch (K) back needle knitwise

1st stitch (K) front needle knitwise & drop, next stitch (K) on needle purlwise 1st stitch (K) back needle purlwise & drop, next stitch (K) on needle knitwise

1st stitch (K) front needle knitwise & drop, next stitch (P) on needle knitwise 1st stitch (K) back needle purlwise & drop, next sticht (P) on needle purlwise

1st sticht (P) front needle purlwise &drop, next sticht (P) on needle knitwise 1st stitch (P) back needle knitwise & drop, next stitch (P) on needle purlwise

1st stitch (P) front needle purlwise & drop, next stitch (K) on needle purlwise 1st stitch (P) back needle knitwise & drop, next stitch (K) on needle knitwise

The (K) and (P) are referencing, what stitch is sitting on that needle facing out.

Do you know of any simple sweater patterns for a beginner?

Of course!

The very first sweater I knit was called $5 in Paris (don’t let the name fool you, it’s actually free) and the designer did a REALLY great job simplifying everything so make it easy to follow for a first timer.

Also, my bestie just recently knit her frist sweater and used the pattern Brick, which she said was “easy peasy”. 

We also had a little chit chat on your behalf, and (in our opinions) virtually anything top-down is a little easier to work (because you pick up less stitches and it’s a little easier to try on as you go to make sure of your fit).  No matter what kind of sweater you choose, you will likely also have to pick up stitches, so we both highly recommend this video, which shows you how to minimize holes under the arms of your sweater.

Hello!! Do you happen to have any resources on how to weave in ends? (I normally work with worsted yarn but any advice would be helpful). The method I use is not great but it’s the only one that I can find on YouTube, somehow, and you seem like a trustworthy person to ask :)

Yes of course!

My personal go-to method for weaving in ends it a duplicate stitch from the wrong side, which can be a little bulky.  Other methods I use are Zig-Zag and Diagonal (which are both included in this photo tutorial), and Vertical (this is the same website I cited in an earlier post that gives weave in options specifically for chunky yarns.  I feel like I should warn, they do show on the wrong side of the fabric, if that matters).

Hi this is probably a super basic question but what does it mean to finish in the ends?

I love super basic questions!

So any time you start a project, end a project, or have to join a new skein in a project, you get left with a little tail, or an end. Finishing in the ends just means to weave that tail into the work so the knitting doesn't unravel, but there are no visible loose ends.

There are lots and lots of correct way to finish in ends. For this blanket project, I ended up researching specifically finishing in chunky yarn and found this helpful resource.

What's the easiest way to find a local knitting group?

So I'm (trying to) knit a beanie for my brother and I just noticed that it's twisted around the (circular) needle. Can I just keep going or do I need to start over?

Oh noo! I’ve always had to frog my work when I twisted stitches while working in the round.  I did some digging, just in case, and I did find this tutorial for “fixing” a twist (I figure it could at least be worth a shot, just in case). I’ve never used that method myself, but hopefully it helps! 🤞 

Failing that, if you do have to frog and start over, the same vlogger as the previous video has some tips to successfully avoid twisting stitches.  Also, Spruce Crafts has a whole article about twisted stitches.

Hello, sorry to bother you, but in your shawl post, what are the grid tile things it's sitting on called? They look really useful but google is being unhelpful. Thanks!

It’s no bother, I’m happy to help!

They are blocking mats that I bought on Amazon!  Here is the link to the brand I have!  They come in a pack of 9, which works well for small to mid-sized projects.  I have two sets of blocking mats, and highly recommend these blocking pins to go with them!
