Half-assed swatch time! Lion brand heartland yarn, acrylic size 4/medium, color Capitol reef (pink). Bottom section used size 10 (5.75mm) knitting needles, middle section size 8 (5mm) needles [mismatched set: technically only one needle was actually size 8, both are labeled as 8s but one is actually a 9/5.25mm], top section attempt at Tunisian crochet using 5mm hook.

We were asked to make a few swatches and to come up with a few designs inspired by it.

I am basing my line up on the critical contextual and conceptual work I did for the first semester and was very inspired by Tara Donovan’s fluffy looking sculptures.

I wanted to make something fluffy without using faux fur so I knitted a loop stitch swatch. I began with the small one and realized how time consuming this stitch is then moved on to bigger needles and thicker yarn. It is not as fluffy as the smaller swatch but it gives me an idea about how this stitch behaves at different scales.
