Knitting horror story: you see the end of your skein from the corner of your eye and you have three rows left for your project
saw this on facebook and immediately thought of you
IT TOOK WEEKS to find the right kind of yarn-- weeks that they technically didn't have, but Sam refused to rush through and risk choosing something that would cause sensory issues to a newborn nephilum. Castiel had been only marginally helpful in that because his time spent human had been filled with so much discomfort from so many sources that the angel had difficulty pinning down texture preference from before he regained his Grace. In that respect, Sam opted to go with his feedback on preferring soft and silky, and hunted down non-wool, hypoallergenic fibers.
He kept the project secret from Dean, at least in part. It wasn't that he thought his brother would mock him, exactly - Dean had long been aware of Sam's knitting hobby, even if it had fallen by the wayside more and more as they damn near drowned under the onslaught of one disaster after another - but Dean had a mad-on where Lucifer was concerned that Sam couldn't pretend not to understand, even if he didn't share the sentiment of extending that kneejerk distrust and violent impulse towards an as-yet unborn baby. Thankfully, the individual shapes of the main pieces were lumpy and indistinct enough that so long as Sam kept the finished pieces hidden in his bag and crumpled the ones he was working on, Dean couldn't tell the difference between the tiny seed stitch sweater and the newest round of "stresscraft".
Then Jack was being born, and the barriers between worlds were breaking, and Castiel was dead, and Lucifer had taken Mary captive and dragged her through one of those damned rifts, and Dean was firing his gun at a newborn nephilum who was much bigger than a normal infant, and Sam barely had time to breathe, much less think of the little sweater until he was sorting through his duffel after a hunt and found his knitting bag.
I saw that you're knitting a Taylor cardigan, and I keep trying to build up the courage to start on the lion Brand pattern 🙃 do you feel it is an accurate version to the ones sold on the store?
as far as i know it is! i have never been able to look at one from the store up close in person to confirm, its really hard to count rows from pictures and stuff. until i can confirm myself, i trust the pattern author had good reference material.
i believe in you! it was my first sweater i ever fully finished and one of the few cable heavy projects i have ever done! the cables look far more complicated than they are both on paper and finished project imo and if you ever need encouragement or help you can definitely come to me!
Purchased the materials for this cardigan 4 years ago
Started this cardigan 2 years ago when Zipper passed away (grief distraction project)
Stuck it in the back of the sofa for roughly 7 months where it acquired Sofa Odor (I’ll wash it when it’s done)
Collected all the scattered materials after moving and pulled it out last summer (1 yr ago) to work on
Pulled it out again 4 days ago to hopefully finish
Fingers crossed imma finish this bitch the next week or so I have been wanting to wear it for literal years at this point.
Doctor’s assistant sees my knitting bag: oh, I love knitting! Isn’t it just so relaxing? ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
Me: Yeah, so relaxing ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
Me when I knit:
Officially ready to change colors. One middle section of black seed stitch coming right up. I have also volunteered myself to crochet one of those egg aprons. *facepalm* At least they're buying supplies and are paying me. Just need to get purple yarn for the last section of this shawl, another skein of the peacock to finish my scarf, and the turmeric for the 4th Doctor Scarf. Good thing fall is coming upon us so I may knit and crochet all the things.
