I've waited a long time to get here, and the decoration really is completely overwhelming. A long-gallery lined with faded, ancient armchairs:
I love these exaggerated height four-poster beds from the late 17th century. This one belonged to King James II.
The original 'Knole' sofa, which was not designed for ordinary use, but for state occasions:
This room was used by a lady-in-waiting of Queen Anne. I love the leaf decoration on the tapestries.
Just imagine being a child like Virginia Woolf's Orlando/Vita Sackville West, playing amongst all these treasures!
