In DoS, when you say the toastbabies' names together quickly the pronunciation sounds like air and sky. That's really nice. Did you select those names with that in mind?

Great question!

I picked “Aran” for toastbaby boy because I’m Irish, and the Irish word for bread is Arán (pronounced “Ah-rawn”).  

But spelled without the fada over the second “a” changes the pronunciation slightly to “Ah-ren”. 

I asked my friend KnottedEnergy to pick toastbaby girl’s name, because she talked me into writing the story in the first place.

Originally I was leaning towards “Willow” because its popular in fanon, but my only problem was that it’s my pet cat’s name :)

I liked Skye when KE suggested it, because it brought to mind birds flying freely and, of course, that made me think of mockingjays.

Fic Rec..."Dead By Morning"

I don't often do this, but a very precious friend of mine recently completed a fic that I would like to recommend to all my followers.

It's called "Dead by Morning" by KnottedEnergy and is available on FFnet.

This is an in-depth look at Peeta's life, beginning during his imprisonment in the Capitol, and ending when he returns to District 12 and the events in between.   

Be forewarned, this is not a fluffy story. At times, it is dark and angsty, and there are parts that will wrench your heart.

A little background - this is actually the very first story I ever felt compelled to write a review for, and it was the reason I decided to create an account on fanfiction.net.  (And the rest is history - see, what you started, KE!) 

Over the course of the last two years, the author and I have become very close friends, wayyyy beyond the limitations of fan fiction or an online friendship and she is personally responsible for pushing me to try to write anything.  She was the very first person to see the fledgling 300 words I wrote of DoS and when I nervously emailed them to her, she emailed me back almost immediately and said to me "you have to write this, you can do this."

I am so very proud of her for finally battling through writers block, frustration, a lack of inspiration, and sometimes just the overall feeling of sheer defeat, to actually get to the point of completing this labor of love, when at times it was a massive struggle for her,  

So, give it a go.  And if you like it, leave her some love.  :)
