Out stepping lightly in the wild right now and a lil heavy hearted... I stopped and I stood still to make prayers. And I look up and I'm standing under The Elder Tree, and a very old one at that. And I was amazed then so comforted and I made prayers for the children. Elder is all about the children. Meet my long time trusted plant spirit friend, Oregon Grape/Barberry (Mahonia aquiflora). Most folks use the root but the limb bark shavings are just as potent and are murder free! Here's a mock orange blossom. I was nominated for the #foragingchallenge by@paforaging.... So I have to eat completely WILD FORAGED FOODS ONLY for a day.... It's not known to me to be of any real medicinal value, but it is quite pretty and wonderfully fragrant and the leaves can be used as a soap.
