today marks another step in my self love journey by starting #PrEP to lower my risk of contracting HIV. Countless people like me - Black and Brown trans and queer artists, lovers, humxns have been lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and continue to be disproportionately affected by the crisis. Incredible strides have been made - drugs and studies that have cemented the fact that undetectable=untransmittable, the creation of pre-exposure prophylaxis drugs, and better education for folx starting at an early age. May we never lose another generation of LGBTQ+ lovers and fighters again. 🌈 I’m at a higher risk being trans masculine and queer and loving on the folx I love, and I owe it to myself to do what I can to engage in the safety measures I have the privilege to access. A pill a day ain’t nothin but a thing, and I’m grateful for all of the financial assistance programs that exist for this drug. ⭐️ Being silent (silenced) or shamed about our sexuality, sexual health, and statuses helps no one. I spent too long in the closet hiding, on my knees trying to pray the gay away, and thinking that I was “bad” simply for being. Owning and living in this body, and sharing it in ways that feel good and safe is my favorite way to radically embrace my whole self and the communities I love. I’m a slut for safety 🖤 #truvada #sexualhealth #UequalsU #knowyourstatus #worldaidsday #queer #transgender #nonbinary #selflove https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq-e8ILF3En/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1j5gb1ty8r23j
