There were many events that Hinata really wanted to partake in, but he didn’t expect to participate in the Koi Winter Festival. The moment the letter slipped in his mailbox was the moment he felt a new array of hope. His eyes lit up with passion and excitement, and his heart accelerated faster than the seconds ticking. He slipped his phone from his pocket and texted Ruby—he spammed away many emoticons and exclamation points as he could before he sent the actual message of inviting her with him, asking her to come along. He wanted to find more time to spend with her, and now was the perfect opportunity. She was the one friend he trusted and met in Koi, someone that he wanted to hold onto dearly. And she wanted her to enjoy her time in Koi, without any worries or stress.
Although he gave her a specific time, he came earlier than expected. He was told it was good manners to meet up before the rest of the party.
But there was a slight problem.
He was nervous. His nerves kicked in the moment he arrived.
He hadn’t realized that this was considered a date until he talked to his mom about it. And now that he was actually here, and it was about to happen, he felt his heart was going to escape from his soul. Or was his soul going to escape from his heart? Either way, he was shaking while he was waiting at the entrance. He tried to ignore the small glances he got from strangers. Everyone was dressed up nicely for the ball that was going to happen, and the ball completely crossed Hinata’s mind. He’s never danced before. He’s never participated in events like this in his life. Not with a girl. Not once.
He tapped his head, the small blue pendant dangling from his hair slightly bothered him, but it touched with his yukata. A mixture of black and blue, with a few hints of oranges. He kept fidgeting with the long sleeves that seemingly engulfed his tiny fracture. Everything came to a stop the moment he saw the fair maiden he was waiting on—no, she was a princess.
❛ R-Ruby-chan? Is that you? I almost didn’t recognize you! You look so pretty! ❜ he wasn’t sure when he transitioned from Kurosawa-san to Ruby-chan, but it was sometime recently. ❛ W-we have a while before the ballroom opens… i-i-if that’s what you want to do. The uh, lanterns are first, we should uh… find a spot! P-probably! ❜ he was still obviously shaking, and his mind had a hard time processing everything. This was all a dream. It must’ve been a dream… but he didn’t want that dream to end.
