all this ““festival”” talk has weiss feeling a multitude of emotions. on the surface, she feels happy to the city in such a celebratory mood. festivals off all types have excited her for as long as she could remember. she considered going until the plaguing thoughts of her old friends seeped back in; it just wouldn’t feel the same going without them. alone. and so, weiss had discarded the invitation.
she’s lost in her own thoughts when a voice calls up her attention. ishtar─ her roommate. truthfully, she feels bad not making more of an attempt to get to know her ‘partner’. but who could blame her─? lost in a new world, separated from her cherished friends, with no explanation other than being part of some ‘pairing project’. regardless, she gives the girl her full attention, a small hint of sadness shadowing over her eyes once the festival’s been mentioned.
❝ yes, ishtar… i did receive the invite. ❞ she responds a bit too formally, but a soft, polite smile forms on her lips. her partner was… odd, to say the least. from a world much different than her own─ that much she knows.
❝ i wasn’t planning on it, no. ❞ she admits, ❝ but they are enjoyable. we… ‘humans’, ❞ she pauses after echoing that. it’s still taking some getting used to: being grouped up with ‘humans’, as if they weren’t the majority, ❝ but they’re quite beautifully put together. the organization, the decorations, everyone gets into the spirit… you should definitely go, if you haven’t experienced anything like it before! ❞
Ishtar never thought about taking part in the event, really — even when she was in Uruk, she rarely takes part in the festivals. of course, she knows how a festival works — she watched the humans long enough to figure out the things they usually do in carnivals like that. ❝ I guess it sounds decent enough, but I don’t like the idea of going there alone. ❞
But, no, really — if Ishtar had people to go to the winter festival with in the first place, she would turn up, but as of now... The only people she knows in this city are not on very good terms with her — no, perhaps that itself is an understatement. There is no one to blame but her own misfortune.
Judging from the way Wiess spoke of festivals, Ishtar supposes the other is quite well-versed when it comes to events like that — does she, perhaps, enjoy gatherings like that? Though, she finds it a tad bit odd that the other would not be attending it after saying so many good things about it. Ishtar could only guess that, just maybe, she shares the same sentiment as her.
❝ I mean, don’t humans enjoy going to places like that with their fellow humans? Well, I suppose that applies to goddesses too. ❞
