Ares, The God of My Anger
This piece draws inspiration from Ares, the Greek God of war. As part of my sustained inquiryāhow do greek gods represent my emotions and personal experiencesāI chose Ares to symbolize my anger. As Iāve grown and matured through my adolescence, I have continuously been let down by society. Unnecessary death, stolen rights, and a blatant disregard for one another and the Earth can be found worldwide.
The helmet itself is for my latest challengeābecoming an adult in these troubling times. I kept the design simple in order to draw attention to the blood splatter. While I may not have begun the battle of adulthood, I am still impacted by the choices of adults around me. With this helmet, I will challenge my anger into strength and face the world head on.
Overall, Iām really proud of how this turned out. The blood splatter took forever, but it looks awesome so itās totally worth it. I could have done better with the gold glaze, but I think I spent all of my patience on the blood. My favorite part is the mohawk. It took me a month to find the right material but it looks amazing so Iām really happy with that.
I canāt wait to take it home and dedicate it to Ares. I donāt have anything for his alter yet so this will be an exciting new addition.
