Back in April, I was invited to join pianist @monikaherzig and the incredible players of #SHEROES [ Monika Herzig + @lenisternmusic + @reutregevtrombone + @karinacolis + #JamieBaum + #ingridjensen ] to share my experiences of working as a professional musician in Brazil, in this panel about #WomenInJazz organized by @thenewschool. ▪️ ▫️ Later on, we got to play a cool show. Karina was back from India, throwing it down on the drums, Leni had her awesome blues guitar thing going on, and the other girls were on 🔥🔥🔥. ▫️ ▪️ It was such an epic day: to go back to the place that supported me on my dream of earning a music degree 👩🏽🎓🎵🎶- walking around the halls on the 5th and 6th floors while hearing the cats play sessions gave me chills - 👂🏼listening to my bandmates tell about the challenges they went through to learn an instrument; and finally, making incredible music with the octet at the #NewSchoolPerformanceSpace 🌞. ▪️ ▫️ It reminded me of how much I 💜music 🎶and being able to learn from so many artists here in New York.
