Yoga is path of deep healing. We are all wounded, especially the ones who say they’re fine. Early life experiences impact the biochemistry of the brain and body, sometimes for better building resilience and sometimes for worse leaving traumatic scars. And this is why yoga is so powerful. By moving, breathing and feeling in new ways, old patterns are broken. The brain finally gets the message that all is well and the calm-and-connect response tells the fight-flight-freeze system to stand down. Speaking first person as a trauma survivor, I can say for certain that my mind, body and life are a happier place after more than 20 years of yoga. I can promise you the same happiness and peace if you just keep practicing. This inner shift is the essence of yoga. The poses are just tools, and really good ones, but it’s the state of lasting happiness and real peace that is the yoga. _ #keeppracticing #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime _ Teaching @pureyogaofficial today and through the weekend in Hong Kong and then in NYC @pureyoganyc in April.
