Myths & Things taken out of context about Dana Terrace
“Dana Terrace blocked me because she’s transmisogynistic!!” I’ve watched people get blocked over even just making a mildly unfunny joke in her comments, it’s pretty clear she just blocks anyone who posts things she doesn’t want to see. Loads of negative comments calling to boycott her show were probably not things she wanted to see, and I think it’s also worth considering the possibility that it’s just that.
“Dana Terrace deleted her posts about Disney’s transmisogyny so she takes them back!!!” She’s deleted around 90% of the posts she’s made criticising Disney for reasons I don’t know but I’m sure aren’t related to changing her mind, or KOG wouldn’t have exist!
“Dana Terrace cast a trans woman to play an abusive cis man!!!” Kayleigh McKee, the incredibly talented trans voice actress of Sparky, auditioned for the role of Sparky, knowing very well what his character entailed, and was cast. She seems very happy with her role, and has repeatedly spoken about all this on bluesky. Maybe go listen. “Sometimes I can still hear her voice” ass shit
“Dana Terrace reacted differently to transfem headcanons!!” Yes, but this is not indicative of an overall pattern. For example, these screenshots are from two months ago. Context: transfeminine hunter headcanon (owl house character)
“Dana Terrace has never had a single transfem character” you’re right on this and I agree that there is not enough transfeminine representation in media, especially in cartoons, this frustration is completely valid.
“Dana Terrace has had so many transmasc characters and no transfem characters!!” Have you even watched the owl house? No, she hasn’t had a transmasc character either, though I suppose it has come closer than it has for transfems? The Owl House had 2 they/thems and a he/they. One they/them (Masha) is indeed canonically nonbinary and seemed to have identify as a girl/been more feminine before coming out as nb but that doesn’t say anything about transition direction nor does that make them transmasc. Another one’s (Raine’s) voice actor, who is transmasc nonbinary, said they view them is transmasc nonbinary, but this is not necessarily canon, in canon they’ve always gone by they/them as far as we know, it is entirely possible that they were raised neutrally and aren’t trans. And the third (The Collector) seems to have always gone by he/they too.
Also worth pointing out is that Terrace’s work on TOH was constricted by Disney’s censors. So far we only have a KOG pilot, who knows if there will be trans women in this show? Of course it is valid to be frustrated over Frankie not being trans, but before accusing her of never including trans women specifically, I think we should wait to see what identities other KOG characters have.
Again I’m not saying she’s a perfect ally or above criticism. I’m just trying to clear up misinformation.
