I told my wife that people on the R.E.M. subreddit keep misspelling the song "Kohoutek" as "Kahoutek"--a pity, as I have a fondness for the song, and Fables of the Reconstruction is my favorite of their albums.
She asked me in return, "well, does Michael Stipe sing it with an "a" or an "o"?"
I replied that he has never enunciated anything, ever, but it was named after both a real comet and a person. We decided to put the song on to assess.
I was treated to my wife's face scrunching up more and more like Kermit the Frog's before she finally said "...oh my god, there are words to this and not just sounds?" Admittedly, the car speakers did not help.
The final verdict did not land on a definitive "a" or "o", but she did settle on a firm statement: if her pipes got haunted, they would sound very much like Kohoutek.

Kohoutek - Jurad
Some serious space rock for your Bandcamp Monday this week. Kohoutek shares its name with the famed comet — and indeed, at the outset of Jurad, you may feel as though you are drifting endlessly through the galaxies, cold and alone. But wait! Eventually, things start to coalesce and make sense, and by the end of the epic opening track, the band has set the controls for the heart of the sun. You almost expect David Gilmour to pop up with a ripping psychedelic solo. One song title here sums things up: "Cosmic Grease."
PS - There's a new edition of my Bandcamping column up now on Aquarium Drunkard ...
