Gotten into a better studying habit lately, though my concentration hasn't been the best, so I'm taking a break from distracting social media.
I've got a math test two days before my bday next week and I've got to study the rest of the week for math, geography and German
one of them is way happier than the other to be in this situation
im finally not away from home so I could actually draw digitally, so have some emilia art I did a bit quickly
I think people should not be afraid of making iceland just a little mean ok I think its good for him
Me and @jalshristovski discussed the Turkish abductions and why ice would see him as a father figure of sorts and I drew this. That boy would not be good at saying any Turkish words.
what are some of countryhumans iceland closest relationships and general personality throughout the years like?? ^_^
hi i love this question im gonna write a lot for this
im gonna focus on 1900-1990 bcs thats my favorite era of icelandic history
heres a list of icelands closest relations, not all of them because then this post would be really long, but im focusing on a few
Denmark: until 1918 iceland did not have a lot of autonomy from denmark, and resented him quite a bit for it. denmark is the only countryhuman who is a close relative of denmark- but due to childhood negliegence, they did not become close until iceland was an adult around 1930s. under the cold war iceland and denmarks relationship was fragile due to icelands wavering allegience and the fact iceland was generally not a very good ally in NATO. after 1970 iceland and denmark had a more easy going relation to each other, but the earlier resentment was mostly one sided as denmark never disliked iceland or purposely wanted to isolate him
america: few bonds before the occupation, which became a very fragile and unpredictable "friendship" between the two. america finds him fun to be around because iceland will tell him very bluntly if he disagrees with him, while iceland barely tolerates america. they developed a weird relationship with each other in 1950, becoming frenemies with benefits lol, none of them admit to this at all. iceland finds it embarrassing, america doesnt want people to think he would be with a very powerless country--however this isnt that well hidden
soviet union: established early relations in 1922 with iceland being invited secretly to a meeting in moscow to discuss financially supporting the communist party being formed on iceland. they kept having meetings that were held secret throughout the cold war and developed a strangely good friendship, though iceland never formarly left NATO or aligned himself with him; he did remain neutral.
Norway: Norway is not direct family, however treats iceland like family, and iceland does the same. during the cold war they frequently disagreed with one another, often ending in arguments(arguments done in private. but these often entailed icelands continued 'rebellion' against NATO and NATO allies, and his refusal to stop provoking stronger countries) but they are each others supporters, and was a person that iceland felt safe enough to talk about his actual opinions with (which he frequently hid to remain very stubbornly neutral in the cold war)
NATO: after nato formed, it became very clear to him that iceland was not exactly... happy to be apart of the alliance. even witnessing the riot that happened in reykjavik first hand when iceland was signed into NATO--which iceland did little to prevent. they had to have quite a few meetings trying to get iceland to become less unpredictable in what he would agree to or very strongly disagree with. he always had a underlying feeling that iceland was hiding something when it came to his relation to the soviet union
icelands personality is described very differently depending on who is asked. if you asked denmark or america you would get the idea that iceland almost purposely provokes people, hates authority (though this is true) and is unpredictable in his alliance.
however if you asked norway, soviet union or germany youd get the idea that iceland is level headed but easily agitated by others trying to give him "advice" or dictate if what hes doing is right or wrong, but can be very calm and playful if in the right environment or around the right people (or the right drinks lol) but he still also hates authority eitherway
generally iceland is very quiet, he has no wish for living any sort of grandiose life, and lives in a simple house in reykjavik. everyone agrees hes very patriotic (especially early 1800s-1900s)
Might I trouble you for some Iceson and Dadmark content in these trying times? :)
hi paiko!!!!!!(๑>•̀๑)
We can all appreciate Toddler Ice in these trying times. I have had this idea of Denmark being the biggest hypeman for Iceland ever. I love the idea of him telling other nations that his kid is totally better, smarter, and overall amazing just to say he has a better kid than them. Denmark is a proud dad every day.
Toddler Ice can do anything mundane or general toddler things and Denmark will always talk about him like he's doing amazing, tiny ice could bite him and he would talk about how "strong his kid is"
