"An Idle brain invites the devil in!"

Giggles! I was inspired prior a few hours ago by this one comment asking inquiries toward the devil, and while I promised and vowed not to expand on this man - I admittedly got bored while waiting in line for my national ID so here he is!! I can already feel my other children seething at me for the favoritism 💔

And the images by itself! GRUMBLES!! he was such a troublesome man to draw, mostly because he's such a maximalist accesorizer. Believe me when I say his greed is beyond infinite. Compared to most other puppets, I imagine the devil in best condition!

Don't mind his hair as well, it's incredibly luscious and beautiful - however he keeps it tied in some way when the mask is on. As requested, here's his thoughts on the main cast!

HIS THOUGHTS ON THE MAIN CAST

Jestyn - from a bygone past, the two were close friends once, and still are! But not as close as The Devil wishes. Truthfully, he has many complicated feelings over his old friend. Being performing puppets, the two of them taught each other many things over the course of the theatre’s run times. Their personalities while bright, shined in different ways, and complimented one another without opposing the other. When I say close, I imagine close as two best friends would. Close enough to the point of comfortability that would have puppets wondering if they were friends or lovers (they were friends, they’re both equally very touchy and jokesters). But upon Crownus’ reign and Jestyn’s new role as his jester came forth, did they both part ways to some degree. The Devil could have served the king as well, but when you try to look up at him from the bottom of the pedestal that the kingdom has placed him upon, it is terribly difficult to meet the king eye level and see the sincerity in his gaze. And so, he allowed Jestyn the spotlight and therefore, the king’s attention. Luci kept to the townsfolk, and Jestyn, the crown. He was there for the beginning, there for the crumbling, and then the fall. He sympathizes for his friend, and feels sorrow for not being present in such time of need. The kingdom was hurt, and his friend left with a gaping hole the king had left. He tries, as one would, but he can’t say their friendship has been the same since then. He deeply misses his companion, and if the jester ever reached out to him, the devil would welcome him in open arms. But that would be unfair, wouldn’t it? The circumstances have changed, and the devil dreams of more now. Of something beyond the kingdom’s walls. A part of him feels guilt of thinking it, of planning it, of leaving. But Luci assures himself that his friend would not notice his absence much.

Knighter - No comment! Jazz hands! There is little for Luci to say in regards to Knighter, especially since Luci doesn’t often mingle with the main cast considering they’re part of the castle’s court, and The Devil fancied the town than the castle itself! But luckily, both of them are on neutral grounds. Knighter practices the same caution to the Devil just as he would on Jestyn, fearing that the two share a taste in trickery. Which is true, even as a respected knight, the Devil still doesn’t hesitate to give a tease here and there. If Luci ever causes trouble (which is rare), it’s Knighter there to catch him in the act. He respects the knight, although, ever so often his mind wanders to Crownus’ reign. He can still see the longing in the knight’s eyes.

Wizzy - Another one on fairly neutral grounds! Sadly, the devil as well rarely stumbles upon the grand wizard at all since he too resides in the castle wing. But the two are pleasant talkers when comes the chance. Believe it or not, the Devil sells a few potions of his own, so you can imagine Wizzy’s surprise and many questions on how he’d manage to procure such wares. The Devil finds Wizzy most fascinating and dare he say, adorable. For one wisest of them all, he sure can be ditzy. But it’s sweet for what its worth. It almost makes him want to act on his cuteness aggression.

Prieston - Well now that’s one he’s encountered often enough! In the stage play, it was a common occurrence for the Priest and the devil to stumble upon each other, the theatre’s story often build on this certain rivalry they seem to both have, which, naturally, excited the audience and only preened the Devil’s feathers when many were giddy at the thought of him being a villain. It only ever added on to his mystique. But to disappoint, he and the holy man were friends. Or at least good acquaintances. The Devil enjoys teasing the father by playing onto his role, using his silver tongue and honeyed voice to try and ‘tempt’ him. To which, Prieston will quip back with something witty and reference something holy. Don’t take it too seriously, it is only ever jest. But the two love playing with each other. It is never physical, their fight comes in their words. He enjoys the clever priest, and I imagine if given the chance, they both read together on occasion. Not close friends, but still in good terms enough to have tea. I imagine being stuck between them is pure torture, will you be a good lamb and heed the words of your guiding father? or succumb to the sin of the devil's desire? It's a constant tug of Prieston telling you no, to be good, to be pure, surely, you are a child of the lord, yes? and the devil whispering the filthiest shit in your ear.

The Duke and The Jester

Dukemir and Jestyn shenanigans are entertaining to say the least...

The two fight like cats and dogs but honestly don't have any true beef. Atleast... thats what Dukemir believes. Duke believes its all just a game to win Jestyn's favor as his friend! But...Jestyn is not so sure, especially when Dukemir's cape has been eyeing his majesty all throughout their shift to quote "Keep them safe"... Who is he to know how to keep them safe?? They are perfectly safe with their loyal jester!

....right?

Duke doesn't find the fighting actually serious and will calm down super quickly while Jestyn seethe in distaste. Afterall the main reason why Duke hasn't taken charge is because Jestyn and the others find Duke way too people pleasing to make the correct decision in the kingdom. Duke observed in the past that Jestyn found pranks to be funny and assume thats what he needs to do to be his friend. Jestyn does enjoy games, but not with a man who is eyeing his ruler so particularly >:[

Any attempts Duke may have in getting to know MC are interrupted by a very totally not jealous Jestyn. Followed by a much more gentle Duke being uncertain if MC wants to be around Jestyn. If they find Jestyn uncomfortable, Duke steps in with a distraction. If not, Duke will politely excuse himself and leave. He cares for everyone's safety and mental health, including Jestyn. Who is Duke to take away his friend's lover? Even if Duke feels something for MC.. if you are happy with him thats all that matters.

Dukemir has to be useful. Always useful.

Very bold question to ask but you asked nicely so I'll indulge Honestly I was postponing designing my Crownus for a while now, mostly because I was intimidated by the task, so this kind of gave me some external motivation to actually do it Some design-related rambling below

My design was kind of inspired by few things @an0nymous-c 's depiction of him (post1, post2) with the talons and the hood and @unlessyouwant 's design concepts as they led me to look into the motif of the King in Yellow from both the novel and also later got inspired from that one Minecraft ARG and its Yellow King xD Mostly bc I always thought of 3 colours when thinking of Crownus: black, red, and yellow/gold. Also was thinking about King Midas a bit. Honestly, I originally wanted to make him much more yellow, but eventually I decided to make him... kind of blank. It's intentional that I didn't give him any real colour beyond the yellow elements of his jewellery and the crown. When I think of Crownus, I picture this almost faceless figure. Not because he literally had no face, but because, with enough time passing in the theatre, I like to imagine that most puppets simply wanted to forget it. Forget him. But some things are harder to forget. Especially that smile. Once, it might have been seen as calm and reassuring. Something that made you feel safe in the presence of your King. But with time, that same smile became tainted by the knowledge of what was hiding behind it. I like to imagine that every puppet whose mind was severely scarred by Crownus might try to erase his face in their own way. A scribble. A shadow. A black square. Anything that could make the memory a little less vivid whenever he appeared in their mind. But I think there would be one thing that would be much harder to erase: the gold. Those yellow-golden ornaments must have caught the eye no matter what the memory attached to them was. You might forget what colour his hair was. You might force yourself to forget the colour of his scarf or royal robes. But the gold would stay. The golden ornaments swaying as he walked toward you. The polished golden soles of his boots as you knelt before him. The gleam of golden talons as they caught your chin and forced you to look at him. And of course, the shine of the crown sitting upon the head of your tormentor Your friend. Your saviour. Your true and only King. ===== Here I left him uncensoured as I wanted to show a little bit more of his features This is just a concept design I'd say as I might change or add somethings to it, we'll see. Took a break from my TFC stuff and created a Kingdom of Marionettes OC on a fun whim and idea.

Meet the Princess Puppet or known as Princesca. While I haven't fully figured her out I imagine her as someone very somber and withdrawn, at least in her current state. I also thought it would be fun to give her sectoral heterochromia with purple and gold in her visible eye.
