Congo Bongo vs Kongo Bongo

So in the old Donkey Kong animated series, the island DK lived on was called Kongo Bongo...and I found out Sega put out a game only two years after the Donkey Kong Arcade game that was their attempt to cash in on Donkey Kong. Coincidence? A cheeky reference to a competitor?
