The Lost Prince of The Jungle
Au where DK grew in the human world.
It came to me after Mario's movie, where DK grew up with the brothers in his world without knowing where he comes from.
He arrived there with approximately 10 years after a quite strong storm. They found the unconscious baby gorilla with his heads injured in the middle of New York, at first they thought it was a trafficked ape and took him to a circus, which he escaped not long after.
The boys met a year after his arrival, when DK tried to steal some food from their apartment in the middle of the night. At first the brothers were scared because, well, it was a gorilla at their house, and tried to shout for help but DK stop them, he showed them that he could speak, he was intelligent and was only hungry, that it wasn't a threat to them.
Mario had his doubts but Luigi gave him a chance, gave him the leftovers of his food and DK devoured them in seconds, it was then their friendship settled.
They grew together, wity DK living hidden in the roofs of Brooklyn having adventures with the brothers, and the twins doing the impoible to keep him hide. Mario and DK managed to gradually overcome their differences and became best friends, competitive for everything, friendly insulting each other, but best friends, sadly not everything was good.
DK don't know anything about himself, so he thinks it is a kind of halfway evolution or an experiment that went wrong, a failure of nature that exists in a world it shouldn't. He don't understand his peers, he cannot mix with humans, he only has three friends and was... alone, nobody understands him and no one is waiting for him, he doesn't have a home, he doesn't belong to any place and that destroys him slowly. He doesn't talk much about that, he tries to be strong in front of his friends, but sometimes he needs to let off steam.
"You are my friend, I don't care what are you"
"And if I'm a monster?"
Sometimes, he wish not be like that.
His personality is more relaxed compared to the movie, he's a showoff and needed to approval, but he is softer, he doesn't try to be the best and he's not disgusting to others, in general he is a chill dude that loves Monkey Around with his favorite plomers, eating, sleeping, jumping between roof and repeat, think saturday supercade DK but with Luigi and having the twins fixing DK's disasters. Mario also changes a little, he is loyal to DK and will put him in front of everything (although he can easily crush him), which will be important for the plot, Luigi is basically the same, only that he's also DK's friend.
During the movie events, Mario instead of going to his room goes with DK, Luigi appears and tells them exactly the same as in the movie, DK tries to encourage him saying that Mario doesn't give up so easily and that he will soon have his time to shine. They see the problem from the roof and Mario has the same idea of saving Brooklyn, follows the events of the movie, but this time DK give them a ride and goes with them.
When they are transported, DK tries to hold on to Luigi but the strength of the pipe is too much and ends up throwing him into another current, a rock-like pipe cover in leaves that left him it in the middle of the jungle without knowing how to return to his home or his friends. After a day wondering he runs into the entrance of the kingdom, and the greatest shock of his life comes.
There were others like him.
Big, small, high, low, all with diferents furs and clothes, but all with similarities impossible to ignore and all under the same name: Kong.
DK was a kong
His shock doesn't last long since he ends up helping a very active monkey called Diddy, and a very friendly rhino. He immediately like the little one and agrees to let him show around, he took him to a Kong girl who, when she sees DK, almost had a heart attack.
"Just ... You look like a friend of mine, it's been a while since he was gone"
"Oh, I'm so sorry"
"It's okay ... My name is Candy"
DK meet a bunch of other kongs and discovers how fun is life with others the same who are not scared of him, not having to hold back with the risk of hurt them, all those fears had now left because, finally, He wasn't alone.
Of course, it couldn't last.
They invited him to see a fight in the arena, the most important and entertaining event of their culture, and he happily accepts not knowing what he was getting into. They tell him their best warrior will fight against the mushroom kingdom 'knight' for the Kong army, before DK could ask or even tell them his name, he saw itm
Mario, in a beam over a free fall, fought against a kong twice his size.
All the good that DK had experienced disappears when he sees his best friend be brutally beaten by this other Kong for damn entertainment. Think of himself as an idiot for believing that this world, that this species would understand, that they would show him a truth that was always there, he had a home, people who care about him not matter what, and he decided to change that just for a bunch of apes he just met? He's ashame of himself
With his feelings crazy, DK intervenes in the fight and defeats the other Kong with a single blow, helping Mario. They're all confused, Why a kong would help a human? Why would he be on his side?
The king is furious and demands an answer, but at the moment he sees DK something changes in him, something recognizes the mysterious Kong who thought gone a long time ago.
Because DK is Donkey Kong, lost prince of the jungle with a kingdom, a family and a father who missed him.
And they will do the impossible for not losing him again.
It's the 30th Anniversary for the Donkey Kong Country series!!!
To celebrate, Kongs and Kremlings are having fun together! Who would have known?
This was first started in July but since I took a while due to procrastinating, it was a little iffy...
Donkey Kong Family Tree
So we start with Donkey Kong Sr., in the arcade games. He gets old and becomes Cranky Kong. He married Wrinkly Kong and had a kid.
Next comes Donkey Kong Jr., who appeared in Mario Kart and Mario Tennis, then grew up to have his own adventures in the first few Donkey Kong Country games, up until 64, after which he marries Candy Kong.
Donkey Kong III got his start on the Gamecupe with all those bongo games, but he kept going until Tropical Freeze. He eventually settled down with an unknown ape.
Donkey Kong IV is the newest one, and Bananza will be his first game.
Essentially, I am proposing that every time DK gets a new redesign, it means that the next generation of Kongs is taking over. What does this mean for Diddy, Dixie and the rest? I haven't puzzled that out yet. I'm working on it. We'll see if Diddy shows up with gray hair in this new game or not (he won't).
