Directed by Peiji Goh (director of The Locksmith) and Yong Choon Lin (cinematographer of PASKAL), and produced by Chiah Choon Hang (CH), Kong Tao brings together talents from Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. The film has been described as a “black magic encyclopedia,” exploring various legends and rituals surrounding occult practices. Development and research for the project began in 2022, and since filming commenced in May 2024, the bold subject matter has drawn significant attention.
Kong Tao stars by Philip Keung, Kao Supassara Thanachat, Bront Palarae, Yumi Wong, and Glenn Yong, alongside Eric Lay, Mayiduo, Freddie Wong, Dato’ Chiah Chye Kee, Tony Eusoff, and others.
The story revolves around a mysterious “mass black magic incident involving students.” A Thai journalist named Fon investigates a bizarre case that took place years ago. During her investigation, she encounters four YouTubers — Chenxin, Wei Kang, Potato, and Weien — who had travelled to Thailand to explore paranormal phenomena. After returning home, they begin experiencing strange events, and Wei Kang eventually dies under mysterious circumstances. Suspecting that they have been cursed, Fon seeks help from a white sorcerer to lift the spell, gradually uncovering a dark truth hidden beneath the surface.
Kong Tao is presented by Mega Films Distribution, with production by Distinct Entertainment, de Kangaroo Pictures, Amphibia Films, King Kong Media Production, Clover Films, Think Media, and Sing Lian Ping. The film is supported by Malaysia’s Ministry of Communications and FINAS, and distributed by Mega Films Distribution, with Infinity Picture and de Kangaroo Pictures serving as production partners.
