Ce mardi matin nous partons à Shanghaï. Nous y découvrons une jeune artiste chinoise dans la collection de Mr Jun: Yirui Jia. Yirui Jia, née en 1997 en Chine, l'artiste vit, étudie et travaille aujourd'hui à New York. De la sculpture à la peinture, elle partage avec nous un monde coloré inspiré par des personnages de dessins animés et de cultures populaires, qu'elle transforme en objets anthropomorphes et animalisés. Yirui Jia a commencé sa pratique artistique en réalisant des sculptures cartoonesques qui sont des personnages poilus anthropomorphes aux identités complexes. Fresnel Pending Lamp By Dirk Vander Kooij

With a kind derived from the concentric Fresnel lens, designer Dirk Vander Kooij‘s new pendant can make the most of recycled synthetics.

Particulars: “It seems to be like a brilliant gold colored celestial body, but it really is a lamp produced out of recycled synthetics and polished metal.” says designer Vander Kooij. The shape is derived from the Fresnel lens, a unique lens that concentrates light into a fairly narrow beam which is used in lighthouses, searchlights and navigation lights.

“The form leads to the light out of the 360 led lights to be sent up and down. The layered construction diffuses the warm light so it truly is not unpleasant to look into the lamp.”

The lamp is hung on a cup-and-ball joint so it can be aimed accurately.
