korar said: It’s mostly cause POC women aren’t really seen having romantic relationships of any kind in this kind of media (besides tiana). And it would be nice to see tbh. White princesses have both had the opportunity for these relationships and for being independent like with Merida as you mentioned. This kind of thing kind of reinforces the “strong independent don’t need no man” stereotype and ppl are bothered by that. Personally I’m just excited to see the movie and I hope it’s successful. ; o ;
sorry but “bc poc women aren’t really seen having romantic relationships of any kind in this kind of media (besides tiana)”??
so i guess...jasmine, kida, mulan, pocohantas, esmerlda, those three daughters from that mulan sequel, the girl from the “brother bear” sequel don’t count?
and you know what, not even disney. “the prince of egypt” “the book of life”, any miyazaki film??
and based on the trailers and promo art for “moana”, i’m pretty sure it’s gonna do great. you just gotta support it by going to see it when it comes out.
