That's fucking word play I did not expect to see in public
Tongyoung cable cars is cheering the nation onwards
Like... What...? I'm still confused how a cable car service can cheer the public?? But it did make me LOL, so I guess it helped..?
I tuned into SBS and they’re discussing that murder, and this is one of those times where I wish I were immediately fluent because I’d love to know what they’re saying.
And if the bus is packed and the seats are all taken by old people, the old lady sitting near where you are standing will hold your heavy book-bag in her lap and ask you what you think of Korean men.
beef
and then i realized it's because as much as i like fyhf, i'm slightly bothered that they post people that might not identify as "femme". that might even be offended by being called "femme". i realize that tumblr is very much a space that does not care about straight and cis and male feelings, but isn't "do not make assumptions about other peoples' identities" rule number 1?
it's possible seungjun lee is cool with being labeled femme, and if that's the case, whatever. my bad. but there are a lot of assumptions about east asian men made by westerners too dull to realize that expressions of masculinity vary from culture to culture. what can be read as feminine in one place can be seen as masculine elsewhere.
a lot of these feelings come from conversations i've had with cute boy about masculinity (he was shocked when i told him white people might be attracted to him; he assumed white girls weren't attracted to east asian men because they were too feminine.... and you know that sort of thing has an impact on him as a Korean living in the U.S.), from the reading i've done on kkotminams ("flower men") all morning, and from my own unfortunate judgments made while watching kdramas and Korean boy bands (i am slowly expanding my definition of "masculine" but i'm still learning and trying to forget the nonsense that has been instilled in me).
i just don't like seeing others make assumptions about other peoples' gender identities (which inevitably lead to assumptions about peoples' sexual orientations because entirely too many people still think gender identity has something to do with sexual orientation). it seems really crass to stick labels on people just because they're read a certain way in your culture without considering how they're viewed in their own.
