은/는데 - but...

Hello! In short, 은/는데 is another conjunction to say “but” (for the most part). First, we need to understand where they’re used in terms of being grammatically correct:

ADJ. + (으)ㄴ데

   ~ if there is 받침, attach -은데. If there is no 받침, attach -ㄴ데.      ✧ 좋은데      ✧ 바쁜데

V. + 는데

  ~ It is important to note, that no matter what, even if there is 받침, you will always add -는데. With some exceptions, if the verb ends in ㄹ you have to remove it:      ✧ 가는데      ✧ 먹는데      ✧ 사는데 In some exceptions, it just gives more information to your independent clause. In those cases, it’s dependent on context. Here’s an example:

   ~ 부산에 가고 싶은데 길 좀 알려주시겠어요? - I want to go to Busan; can you please show me the way?

More Example Sentences: 1. 희주에게 전화했는데 안 받았어요 - I called Heeju, but she didn’t receive it 2. 옷이 좋은데 너무 비싸요 - the dress is good but it’s too expensive 3. 한국인아닌데 - I’m not Korean 4. 희주와 태엽는 한국어가 배우기 쉽는데 동의했어요 - Heeju and Taeyeop agree that learning Korean is easy
