Level 2 of TTMIK: Lesson 3 and 4 will be combined because they were two short lessons with similar material!
Lesson 3
In lesson 3 I learned about the two conjunctions:
🆕 그리고 = and, and then
🆕 그래서 = so, therefore
When using 그리고 it helps to link together nouns and phrases.
Ex:
Linking Nouns with 그리고
피자, 케이크 고리고 아이스크림.
🔅 피자 = 🍕 (pizza)
🔅 케이크 = 🍰 (cake)
🔅 아이스크림 =🍦 (ice cream)
Linking Phrases with 그리고
1. 친구를 만났어요.
2. 우리는 함께 영화를 봤어요.
= 친구를 만났어요. 그리고 우리는 같이 영화를 봤어요.
🔅친구 = friend
🔅 만나다 = to meet
-(았어요) past tense ending
🔅우리 = we, us, (sometimes even our)
~는 subject particle
🆕 같이 = together *
🔅영화 = movie, cinema
~를 object particle
🔅보다 = to see

When using 그래서 it helps to tie along logical relation between a sentence.
Ex:
1. 아침에 정말 열심히 공부했어요.
2. 오후에 정말 피곤했어요.
= 아침에 정말 열심히 공부했어요. 그래서, 오후에 정말 피곤했어요.
🔅아침 = morning
~(에) location particle = in
🔅정말 = really
🆕 열심히 = hard (n)
🔅공부하다 = to study
-였어요 past tense ending
Lesson 4
In lesson 4 I learned two more conjunctions :
🆕 ~하고 = and or with
🆕 ~(이)랑 = and or with
*The two conjunctions can be used interchangeably
-> *however, ~(이)랑 is used for more causal conversations not in formal convos/ situations.
Ex:
~하고
치킨하고 밥 먹어요.
🆕 치킨 = 🍗 chicken
~을 topic marker
🔅 밥 = 🍚 rice (it can also mean “meal”, “food”, depending on the context)
~하고 = and or with (in this case I want it for “and”).
2. 친구랑 같이 치킨을 먹었어요.
🆕 같이 = together *
❗️* When ~하고 and ~(이)랑 are used with 같이 it makes it easier to tell a sentence that means “with” it also makes the sentence better.
🆕 ~하고 / ~(이)랑 같이 = Together with
~(이)랑
When a noun ends in a vowel use ~랑
When a noun ends in a consonant use ~이랑
Ex:
우유랑 쿠키들 샀어요.
🔅우유 = 🥛 milk
🆕 쿠키 = 🍪 cookie
~들 makes it plural “cookies”
🔅사다 = to buy
-(았어요) past tense ending
2. 월요일에 상생님이랑 공부할거예요.
🆕 월요일 = Monday
~ 에 location particle
🔅선생님 = teacher
~이랑 particle and or with (in this case “with”)
🔅공부 = study (n)
-(ㄹ 거예요) future tense ending
