I’ve been learning some basic Korean at a community center class, and considering that it and Spanish are syllable timed languages…. I think I’ve finally figured out why native English speakers perceive Spanish as being so fast. Because syllable timed languages just. Don’t ebb and flow the same way a stress timed language like English does.

I'm starting to realize a significant percentage of people I know of (direct acquaintance, family relation, friend of a friend, etc) who are in our 20s have something going severely wrong in our bodies. Like, I know three separate people who have different types of cancer.

Genuinely stress and money insecurity are deadly. Also being born in a non-white country where we have toxic bomb water in the sea and a history of ground-leveling wartime destruction or sth. They don't tell you generational trauma will look like physical illness, but it does.

Something that I should clarify:

when I say I'm atheist, I actually mean "I am culturally (and by familial traditions) a Buddhist Confucianist, which means my belief that there is no one true god in the world is a moral requirement of my religious faith, since there can be a limitless number of buddhas who reach enlightenment and help others find their own good path of living"

but I tell others I'm atheist because I can't explain this particular form of buddhist belief to everyone (plus there's the Korean indigenous religion part of my cultural heritage, which is for trained professionals consoling the dead who had bad deaths so they can find their way back to the afterlife, but none of this is what Religion is usually defined as)

and it means I don't believe in any god's power

Today I realized that my Korean boyfriend doesn’t laugh out loud unless he’s LMFAOing

Instead I’ll hear him use the sound “kkkkkkk” or “ ㅋ ㅋ ㅋ ㅋ ㅋ ㅋ ㅋ “ everytime something funny happens. 

Is this normal? Or is my Oppa just special?
