The balance... at the Finale...
Hey there! (michaeldantedimartino and bryankonietzko)
I just want to write this to tell you some things that passed over my mind when I watched the #KorraFinale. Not the Korrasami part (by the way thanks for that XD) but something about... ''the surrender of Kuvira''.
Hope you like...
Well, I was thinking about it over and over again and... specifically when the new portal was opened. When that was happening, I noticed that the fact to open a new portal (all the things that are involved on that, spirituality, and so on...) and be part of that, made something on Kuvira's mind.. and feelings. I mean, before that, she still wanted to keep fighting for her ideals and that all changed (as I could see) during the creation of the new portal. She totally changed. I know she was afraid when the beam of light was going directly to her. I know Korra saved her life and I know how loyal is Kuvira but.. it wasn't only that. I don't know how to explain this but... I felt that the portal affected her emotionally or something alike, We never saw her crying before, even when she shot where Baatar Jr. and the others were, we only saw and understood that she felt it but just that. It was a different person in the other side of the portal and that made me say: ''OMG.. How this happened?''. I won't justify all what she did but I felt sorry for her u.u
Thanks for creating this character. <3
For me that transition of time changed all.
The balance in Kuvira was made successfully. That's what I think.

And I also want to use this to thank you for all the work done for the whole series of Avatar, really really thank you. Thank you for making us happy... (and all kind of feelings what we got during all these years).
Many of us grew up with these both series and we learned a lot (Respect to others is essential to have harmony with the world. Things don't solve with violence and hatred. Never give up, your dreams can come true), and made amazing friends watching them.
¡¡¡GRACIAS!!!
Wish you the best!!!!

Cosplay decisions
After my internal debate between my favorite characters of my favorite series, I have finally made the decision to dress as Bolin from Legend of Korra. This decision is due the subliminal and obvious social justice and humanitarian messages within the plot.

Korrasami Confirmed
Now that Korra and Asami’s final moment is out in the world, it seems like an appropriate time to express how I feel about it. I didn’t want to say anything right away so the audience could experience the finale for themselves.
The main themes of the Avatar universe have always revolved around equality, justice, acceptance, tolerance, and balancing differing worldviews. In subtle and maybe not so subtle ways, Avatar and Legend of Korra have dealt with difficult subjects such as genocide, child abuse, deaths of loved ones, and post traumatic stress. I took it as a complement when Joanna Robinson of Vanity Fair called the show subversive. There were times even I was surprised we were able to delve into the really tough stuff on a children’s TV network. While the episodes were never designed to “make a statement”, Bryan and I always strove to treat the more difficult subject matter with the respect and gravity it deserved.
And over the years we’ve heard from numerous fans, in person and online, how Avatar and Korra have influenced their lives for the better or helped them overcome a life struggle or setback. I am always humbled when people share their personal stories with us and I am grateful that my love for telling stories has been able to help people in some small way. So while Avatar and Korra were always meant to be entertaining and engaging tales, this universe and its characters also speak to the deeper humanity in all of us, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, culture, nationality, or sexual orientation.
Our intention with the last scene was to make it as clear as possible that yes, Korra and Asami have romantic feelings for each other. The moment where they enter the spirit portal symbolizes their evolution from being friends to being a couple. Many news outlets, bloggers, and fans picked up on this and didn’t find it ambiguous. For the most part, it seems like the point of the scene was understood and additional commentary wasn’t really needed from Bryan or me. But in case people were still questioning what happened in the last scene, I wanted to make a clear verbal statement to complement the show’s visual one. I get that not everyone will be happy with the way that the show ended. Rarely does a series finale of any show satisfy that show’s fans, so I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the positive articles and posts I’ve seen about Korra’s finale.
I’ve already read some heartwarming and incredible posts about how this moment means so much for the LGBT community. Once again, the incredible outpouring of support for the show humbles me. As Tenzin says, “Life is one big bumpy ride.” And if, by Korra and Asami being a couple, we are able to help smooth out that ride even a tiny bit for some people, I’m proud to do my part, however small it might be. Thanks for reading.
My Thoughts on the Korra Finale
One of my friends asked me how I liked the show's ending, and thus the below rant was born. I decided to post it here to record my exact frame of mind at this time and share my opinions along with everyone else:
I, personally, do not ship Korrasami and am pretty disappointed with how it turned out. I'm proud that Bryke took the risk of implying such a relationship (yay for breaking down outdated conventions!), but I do not think it was explored well enough or given a proper foundation. In fact, I do not think any of the character's personal relationships were explored well enough these past two seasons. Too much action, not enough talk. We knew this would happen when they signed up for 12 episode seasons instead of 24 like they did with Avatar. Everything just became rushed and we had no "the gang just hanging out" moments.
The only hint we have of Korra and Asami being potentially more than friends (besides the ending) is the fact that she only wrote back to her and that little blush when they saw each other again and Asami complimented her hair. Not that I have to be hit over the head with a "we're lesbians!" sign, but Mako and Korra had so much more in comparison! I felt like I was blindsided by the Korrasami randomness.
On the other hand, I admit my disappointment is also stemmed from me being a huge Makorra shipper. Up until the finale episodes, I knew they couldn't have a big "I still love you! Let's have babies!" moment, because that would have been equally random since they barely interacted for years. I was actually expecting/hoping for just a little hint that they still had feelings for each other but needed to continue on their separate paths still in order the grow as individuals.
Near the end, I was actually rooting for Korra to stay single and perhaps continue her Avatar tour duties alone as an independent woman, since there was no one she seemed to have a close enough connection to for romance. I guess if she HAD to be shipped with someone at the end, Asami made the most sense, but it was still grasping at straws.
I'm ranting here. Sorry. Long story short; I understand that they couldn't be blunt about the relationship, but I think I would have been more supportive if it was more clearly implied earlier on. Like if they at least held hands or had a solo starting into each other's eyes moment before the final battle. Something to imply that they were SPECIAL to one another. That also would have satisfied me as proper representation of the struggle new, homosexual relationships often have to go through.
Maybe even if Tenzin asked how things were going with her personal life and she mentioned that she had feelings for someone...gah, ANYTHING! When I think about it, I actually would have loved to see her discuss her feelings with anyone in the cast, which may have led to me rooting for them to get together.
End rant.
Thanks for being brave enough to ask . So I'm not very happy with how Korra ended, but it was still a very entertaining ride and I will always love the characters. In my head, I am switching book 4 with book 2, since the spirit battles and Vaatu were so much more ending-epic than dictator Kuvira (though she was awesome). I cannot wait to see what Bryke comes up with next.
My personal take on the ending of Legend of Korra
First, I just have to say that I'm still in shock. I didn't think it was possible for me to be okay with the series ending, but because Bryke ended it on such a wonderful note... I can't really be that sad. It was perfect. So perfect. The show was building up to the final moment for so long. It's funny, I kept telling myself it wouldn't happen, so when I saw Korra and Asami walk off into the Spirit World together, it floored me. I honestly thought that I might be soured on the ending, which is why I wasn't sure I wanted to see it. I was certain Bryke would take the easy route and make Mako and Korra happen. I even tried to prepare myself for it. Although, I will say my heart skipped when I saw the wedding, fearing that it somehow was Korra and Mako.
Even though I knew that Bryke had made it obvious that they weren't getting back together, it worried me. I expected the Avatar series to end with Korra ending up with someone, and didn't really think it'd be with Asami. "It's on Nick, it's a kids show.." those thoughts circled my brain. Was I ever wrong!
The whole final few minutes was everything I could have hoped for and more. It was a payoff that was unexpected and beautiful. Until that final scene with Korra and Asami walking towards the spirit portal, hand-in-hand... it could have been mistaken for mere friendship. The final scene showed the truth. It was real. Korrasami was real. Korrasami shippers weren't wrong at all.
Even more importantly, a pair of strong female characters ended up together. Even larger than that? Having LGBT representation on what is considered a show for kids (although it's hardly meant just for kids, one watch of "Long Live the Queen" can tell you that).
I never dreamed that what happened on the series finale would happen. But sometimes... just sometimes... dreams do come true. Thank you Bryke and to all of the amazing animators and voice actors. You have no idea what this means to so many.
Korra why u do dis to me. I cant control the feels.
