With the KOSA act/bill becoming a topic increase, I want to talk about my relationship with the internet. I was a kid who was judged a lot in school, for liking things, being apart of a lot of fandoms, being who I was with my drawing skills. But being online showed me that there are a lot of people who are like me! People who want to support rights and help others, support others no matter what it is. I was suffering from issues in the self-harm part of life, thinking that I wasn't good enough and sometimes I still feel that way. But with the internet I was able to look at comics, ships, fandoms, whatever I wanted that made me feel happier instead of nothing. Being with the internet has helped me realized the rights and wrongs with healthy relationships, discovering who I am as a person, helping me decide if I was in safe spaces with my family and friends. Now, if anyone says, "why don't your parents talk to you about this?" It's my fault for that, it's because I'm extremely socially awkward, even around my close family and friends.
The internet has saved millions of lives and has helped people who feel like they are worthless find something to care about and to thrive. Taking it away will do nothing besides harm people.
How about palestine and all that happening there?! LGBTQ+ people?! People who just want to make art that they enjoy and write stories that they can share with other?!
They're doing this for themselves under a false idea.
Stop KOSA, it's not neccessary.
Want to limit things? A PARENT CAN DO THAT EASILY. Don't make a dumb excuse to punish everyone under a dumb superstition that the internet is 'bad' for people.
Cyberbullying? Bullying happening in real life is much more harmful. Online you can block them, report them, make them go away and ignore them. Real life? Damage, pain, hit, thrown, slapped, assaulted in a multitude of ways!
Just stop the KOSA bill, it's sickening.
And if it does get passed and we have to do things like show information? That is intruding on people's lives and showing information that no one besides them and possible jobs should know.
KOSA is not needed, it's not wanted by anyone on the internet, it's wanted by people who want control and by narcissists that want nothing else than to harm others and ruin their minds.
