HOUSE VOTES ON TIKTOK “BAN” BILL WEDNESDAY
The House leadership has just announced it will use special procedures to fast-track the bill that will in essence ban TikTok. This video explains what that means and the likelihood of this bill passing in the House and Senate. Plus, lawmakers report their phones are ringing off the hook from constituents who are upset about this bill and they aren't so happy about it. TikTok says...too bad.
I cannot stress enough how dangerous KOSA is.
killing safe spaces endangers people's lives. many minors and people in marginalized groups losing online friends and spaces can and will kill many people's happiness and in the worst case, the will to live.
I personally keep going because of my online friends. I will lose them if KOSA passes.
this is the same case for many minors (and adults) online.
censoring sexual health will be terrible for many. if there are people out there having sex without knowing the proper safety precautions to take to prevent injury/illness, it will be massively horrific.
all outcry for a ceasefire in Palestine and activism will be censored to oblivion.
if there are people who live in unsafe households, they might never be able to find safety until they become adults, which is far too late.
KOSA is a sick attempt to make the internet a place where there are few ways to be safe.
stop KOSA. it will literally save fucking lives.
sign petitions to stop it. please. spread awareness.
an excerpt from another tiktok news account
"TIKTOK “BAN” BILL PASSES UNANIMOUSLY IN COMMITTEE This afternoon the House Energy and Commerce Committee unanimously passed the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act. This means the bill will move on to the full vote of the House of Representatives. It's unclear when or if that will happen. But this bill was already put on the fast track so it's possible it will come soon."

Another video by underthenewsdesk has dropped with a little more information on the the newest tiktok ban.

This Thursday energy and commerce will try and ban tiktok again. Go check out @underthedesknews on tiktok for more information. They will talk more about on the minisode podcast called American fever dream.
This is seriously dangerous for us because they talk about imposing civil penalties for apple and google if they host the tiktok app like 5'000 per user per day.
There are some Democrats who have benefited from tiktok. Tell your reps to veto this bill.

In regards to KOSA:
While it is true that Congress does return from recess Feb. 26th, that doesn’t automatically mean they’ll immediately jump into voting.
The bill only has enough support to pass the Senate—it’ll most likely stall at the House; both due to it having much less support there & how disorganized the House currently is. Even if it does pass—God forbid, the President would have to sign it for it to be official and even then, it’ll likely take several months before it goes into effect.
…That being said, please continue to call both your Senators & especially your House representative; We still don’t even have a concrete date for a vote—You can visit the website pictured to even see for yourself.
Please spread this around. Don’t panic, We still have time!!!

Petitions to stop KOSA + information about Project 2025 Masterpost
Hello! This is my first post on this blog. While most other people would make a self-introduction as their first post, I feel like this is much more important.
So, you might have heard about the revival of the dangerous KOSA bill this year, with a January 2024 deadline to stop it. I've decided to get every possible petition I can find online for everyone to sign. Here are the links:
All of the bad internet bills. One website.

KOSA is a censorship bill that won’t make kids safe. Instead, it'll put all internet users at risk, especially youth. If you believe in a fr

The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) would censor the internet and would make government officials the arbiters of what young people can see on
For those unfamiliar with the KOSA bill and why it's bad, it's basically a censorship and surveillance bill disguised as a way to "protect children".
Update: While we're on the topic of Project 2025, I will also be including some links to petitions to help stop it:
Stop Project 2025: Protect Our Rights and Choices!
More may be added later.
Update 2:
I've been recently informed about how three major companies are in support of the KOSA bill.
These three companies are Microsoft, Twitter/X, and Snapchat. It's very concerning how big companies like them are in support of this bill, but I have a strategy planned to hopefully get them to stop supporting this bill and get our message across.
We'll need to start actively boycotting these three companies by not giving them any money and stop using their products and services whenever or if possible.
I will likely have to split these up into separate parts since it's going to be a lengthy post.
Starting with Microsoft, one of the first idea is to switch your computer's OS to something like Linux. There are plenty of tutorials online on how to get Linux installed. Here's a recent video I found:
Note: The process may or may not be difficult, but it depends on how tech-savvy you are about computers.
If you don't want to use Linux, that's also fine; you can also switch to using MacOS if you're planning on getting a new computer.
If you can't switch OS because you need Windows for your job, then that's also fine. There are still other ways to boycott Microsoft, money-wise.
Don't buy the new Xbox, and don't buy any of their owned games. Also, don't buy any DLC for existing Microsoft games you own (Minecraft being a big example).
If you want to play any of their games without giving them money, either find similar games not owned by them or find ways to obtain the games without purchasing them.
part 1/3
Now for Twitter/X, I'm surprised that people haven't already ditched the platform since it's owned by Elongated Muskrat, who is an egotistical billionaire and also a Republican.
Luckily, there are many alternatives to the platform available for people to join. Keep in mind that since a lot of these platforms are pretty new, there's not going to be a lot of people on them yet, but more people will arrive once more people start ditching Twitter/X.
There are more alternatives to X in 2024 than ever before, including Amino, Post, Plurk, and Mastodon. Share your thoughts and connect with
Of course, you don't necessarily need to use any unfamiliar platforms since you can always stick to using Tumblr or Reddit.
part 2/3
Lastly, for Snapchat, finding alternatives may not be as easy as Twitter/X, but there are always alternatives for everything.
Here are two lists I've found for Snapchat alternatives:
Explore what fuels Snapchat's popularity, its limitations, and alternatives that address these shortcomings for a richer social experience.
Messaging apps help you communicate and connect with loved ones or acquaintances and co-workers outside of regular work hours through voice,
So that's my strategy for boycotting these three companies.
I'm hoping that people will consider ditching these platforms for other options, but I know not everyone can.
Also, don't forget to sign petitions, call the senators, and call your reps. Boosting this post would be really helpful too. Blazing or reblogging would be enough. Don't stay quiet about this bill!
part 3/3
adding this here too since I've recently found it.
KOSA (kids online safety act) is a bill in USA that will lead to mass censorship of the entire internet and will prevent children (2977 sign
