     The Doctor silently laments that they can never meet over tea or a nice scone in a lovely time period where all HELL isn’t breaking loose. One day, perhaps, in some distant future on some distant planet when they’ve both BURNED through another handful of lives and the universe is crumbling away at the seams. 

      One day.

     For now, though, it feels as if they’re on opposite ends of a battlefield. Not literally as the room is quite nice and she’s a mere few feet from him, but the no-man’s land between them makes her cautious, hesitant. She’s far too aware of what the Time Lord across from her is capable of. She doesn’t back down, but neither does the Doctor get ANY closer than what she must.

        “You’re not supposed to be here. I’ve enough problems without your nonsense to add.”

why does matt is cute ;) ??? legit though idk if you've already talked about it but what's yr feelings on the whole matt/elektra dynamic ?

this is gonna be more involved than you probably bargained for lol

so in the comics, matt and elektra met in law school, and they loved each other. that’s all there is to their core dynamic: once upon a time, they fell in love. the word “euphoric” has been used. the tragedy of their relationship isn’t that they’re ~dark and edgy, but that they were separated when elektra’s father was assassinated, and she left. she didn’t train with the chaste or join the hand, intending to infiltrate them, until after. the next time they met, they were on opposite sides, but they had never stopped loving each other. not really. they were soulmates in love and now they’re star-crossed, but they know they could have worked if things had just been a little different.

i love it. a lot.

and i am.........steamed.................. that the mcu writers decided that wasn’t a good enough love story.

the mcu initially paints elektra as someone who tries to ruin matt. nevermind that he’s a grown ass man who can ruin his life his damn self --- we’re supposed to believe elektra is his dark side, the eve to karen’s ave, someone who gets off on manipulation and violence. watching the writers twist her character to their racist, victim-blaming agenda made me physically ill, so frankly i never finished s2. (i mean, i still want everyone to use elodie for her, but it wasn’t elodie’s fault the writers have never read an elektra comic.)

matt’s characterization suffers as a result. elektra got the worst of the racism, sexism, and villainization both on the show and from the fandom, and i don’t want to downplay that --- but you cannot get matt right if you mischaracterize elektra. matt loves her. he’s not some soft, confused, misused baby. he loves her!! he just loves her!! that’s it!! her love helped to form his life forever, and she was a good part of it. without that understanding of elektra, you lose matt so fast.

their dynamic in dds2? was bad. for both of them. but i also don’t think it was even true to them.

defenders, though --- defenders at least had its heart in the right place. matt deciding he lost her once and never will again? refusing to give up on her? being willing to stay behind with her, knowing they almost definitely wouldn’t make it out, so she would know she wasn’t abandoned? that means everything to me. elektra still deserves better, much better, but the writers at least understood how important it was that she claim her life again. that she not fall definitively on the side of good or evil. that she protect matt --- save his life, in fact.

traditionally speaking, matt and elektra don’t end up together. they’re always (almost always) star-crossed. but do they love each other? yes. yes. and it can be good.

                 She overheard them         speaking to one another but waited until the other man had left to approach    ---------    the round-faced blond was unquestionably more in control of the conversational topic. Clara wasn’t even sure she heard the other mention having problems with the internet to begin with. A thought,  of course,  that would only occur to her in hindsight.
