Okay I also got a quick Q - is the boss canonically dead in AOM?

Nope! Volition is intentionally not making anything about the Boss in AOM canon, except for the fact that the opening scene of SR1, where the three gangs start fighting and Boss gets caught up in it, never happens, because Kingpin/Pierce had managed to unite the gangs earlier on and thus they would never have been fighting. The Saints also don’t exist because Julius never needed to create his own gang to combat the growing violence in Stilwater. 

As for what happens to your Boss in the AOM universe, it’s entirely up to each player to decide for themselves!

I knew from my first time around that violence, while effective, doesn’t keep things the way they need to be. Money is how you change the world as humans are insisted with greed due to our capitalist society.  By providing programs to help empower all types of people, the Capulet Corporation aims to change Earth for the good, return humans back to their altruist roots rather then their fuck you I got mine roots.”

Matt skated into the room on his heelies. “She’s a communist,” he said teasingly as he rolled back out.

“Socialist! You damn well know there’s a difference! Stop trying to be an American.”

When John made those sounds (or Martin or whomever you refer to them as in their shows) I actually felt myself turn red and I had to look away. Not because it was awkward or weird, but only because it was gonna make me cry if I watched. I remember losing so many people in my life and I ended up not being able to breath at all. It's hard, guys. Martin had made the correct sounds; those were sounds of anguish and grief. It's like a huge weight on your chest when you try to breath when grieving.

(Continued)- The pressure from it is so great that you feel like you're suffocating, almost. That can also happen even when you're just crying; you're breathing heavy and can't seem to catch your breath. Whoever is still mocking Martin/John, you better watch your bloody mouths! (Sorry, I just hate it when people make fun of such sad moments...)

I think there’s a stark difference between laughing in reaction to John’s grieving (*says the woman who laughs at funerals because it’s either laugh or cry and I’d rather laugh and remember the good times because it’s how I cope) and laughing AT John’s grieving. 

And even those who felt it was overacted. That’s fine, too. This is a very emotional episode for some and not particularly riveting for others. 

The thing we must remember is not to make fun of each other for our feelings about it.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but what first got you into the Saints Row fandom?

I’d played SR3, 2 and 4 back-to-back and had started having some initial ideas about my own Bosses (just Meryl and Colin back then). I might have searched Tumblr for someone making/reblogging SR fanstuff (at first just to kind of add it to my list of various fandom blogs I followed back then), but some of the people I came across back then I noticed were very actively engaging with one other, drawing and writing stuff about each other’s Bosses interacting, having silly moments, even some very early Bossville roleplaying. 

Then @tenander came up with a Boss calendar thing where people could send in a pic of one of their Bosses to be put into a calendar, and I kept seeing all these super cool Bosses with awesome backstories and stuff, and it really made me want to join in and post about my own Bosses, especially since by then I’d already developed them a ton with a friend and had lots of headcanons and stuff ready to share. So I lurked for a few months on my old blog, slowly getting this blog set up all nice and ready, and then one day I finally jumped in.

The SR fandom (that I knew of at least) wasn’t actually all that much bigger back in the day, and I had more opportunities for interacting with everyone, especially since I was active in roleplaying as well. A ton of new people have come and gone in the three years since then, which I think is a good indicator that we’re still very much alive and kicking. :D

Could still be plenty of reasons. For one, survivor’s guilt, and knowing he’d been at least partly to blame for Aisha’s death no matter which way you looked at it. He’d been careless in getting her mixed up in all of the gang stuff despite her vocal protests, and now she’d been the one to pay the ultimate price. That can do things to people, no matter how stoic and unwavering Johnny might seem on the outside.

Stemming from that, even if we say their relationship had been on the path to slowly fizzling out, after her death another psychological process might have made him overlook that and kind of start idealizing their relationship. Gloss over all the bad stuff and just focus on all the good they’d had, eventually convincing himself that that’s what it had actually been like all the time. It happens to some people in real life and so it could plausibly happen to Johnny, if one wanted to headcanon that way about his and Aisha’s relationship. Like I’ve said, I’ve seen some people go this route with their Gats and with the properly thought out justifications and backstory it could definitely work. :)
