Hear me out, it wasn’t gold it was blue which means the demons (and boys) will 100% return, I mean even with Rumi now showing her patterns of it’s gold wouldn’t she be sent into the demon world? It’s something her and JINU talk about with him saying he Doesn’t believe turning it gold will save him while she thinks otherwise, but at the end he did give her his soul, so I imagine if JINU did come back it’s ether as a human completely or a demon again, seeing as he wasn’t stabbed by her sword so he couldn’t be dead? However Mystery (who I love) and Abby were but they were also the ones shipped with the other two main girls so I hope they come back as humans and their demon was killed not their souls
honestly, i wouldn’t lean out of a window too far by saying we’ll be seeing all the saja boys again for sure (though they have become such fan favourites that i could see that influencing decisions), i think the writing for a potential sequel would differ depending on whether it’d be another movie or maybe a show, etc as well ofc
personally, i could see this as the ultimate ending for jinu from a story perspective (no matter how it tears at my heart and how open i am for ‘my soul is preserved in your sword and you could bring me back’ shenanigans); i think what i’m trying to say is that the directors and writers already did such a good job with this movie and jinu’s arc that i’d trust them with whatever decision they make next (and for everything else we have very dedicated fan artists and writers to explore all our options hehe)
i also think what jinu meant with him asking if rumi thinks it could save someone like him was about his guilt and shame, that he doesn’t believe he deserves to be saved, and not whether it’d be practically possible that the golden honmoon would remove his patterns
also also upon rewatching the movie, the new honmoon actually leaves more possibilities bc, for one, there’s no explicit rule in the movie that all honmoons work exactly the same (esp with rumi saying “if this is the honmoon i’m supposed to protect, i’m happy to see it destroyed” implying that the new one might function a little differently?). plus the honmoon is neither blue nor gold but more rainbow/holographic coloured, reflected in rumi’s pattern, which would give writers a lot of leeway in what that could possibly mean (but there’s sth here about it being multicoloured instead of one uniform, solid colour)
long story short, imo we don’t know enough about what happened to gwi-ma and the demons, if there’s a difference between full demons and humans with patterns, if he’s basically on hiatus now that he’s gotten a taste of the girls’ weapons, how the new honmoon works, etc etc to make any solid predictions on where this story goes if we do get a sequel (which has never stopped me from letting my imagination run wild though)
i’d honestly also be so down for a show about their world tour where they go to different places and cultures and maybe learn about their versions of hunters and the honmoon and whatever shenanigans would come from that (bc this is a more ideal version of the kpop industry, that tour might even include europe ㅠㅠ…)
