As the title states, this is my own, personal, kpop classics list. This is what I would identify as kpop classic songs that I would be able to listen to forever without fail. None of these songs or artists are in any particular order, but you will be able to tell which artists I prefer overall by the amount of songs listed under each group/soloists name.
Most of the groups or soloists on this list are older, meaning from the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Gen aside from the select one or two who are from the 4th. I tried to keep my classics list to the earlier kpop generations as most of the groups from the 4th are just too young in the industry to have made an impact yet.
Just because a group or soloist isn’t included on this list doesn’t mean I have never listened to them or didn’t like them. I have been into kpop and a part of the kpop fandom for almost 20 years....believe me, I have listened to A LOT of kpop and still do. (and I enjoy a lot of it!)
You will probably notice a few patterns to the choices on this list:
I am not a massive fan of girl groups, as there are only 4 girl groups total on this list. I am sorry to any fans who love kpop girl groups...I do not have anything against them, they just usually are not my jam, aside from the very select few.
TVXQ are quite prominent and honestly, if I could include their entire discography from 2003 debut to now, I would. I consider TVXQ the ultimate kpop classic because I am biased as fuck. *thumbs up* In other words, if you don’t like TVXQ or don’t believe they are a classic, (1) you’re wrong and (2) you can leave.
I like random ballads. Like...super random ballads.
No, BigBang and 2NE1 are not on this list. I wasn’t a massive fan of either group back when they were active and I am still not a big fan now. If this list were like...an official “classics” list, I would have definitely included both groups, as they were/are influential still to this day in kpop....but that doesn’t mean I particularly enjoy them or listen to them a lot.
Above comment also goes for Girls Generation. They are a girl group and they were into the cutesy concepts back in the day and I never cared for the girly/cutesy concepts...therefore they didn’t appeal to me.
