Viren's letter finally reveals the truth about Soren's illness. Like Callum's biological father, he had a respiratory illness. And they tried everything, Viren tried to ask his mentor for help in vain. I liked the scene where Harrow hesitates to confess his feelings to Sarai, because she lost her husband only a year ago, but finds Callum lovable. Viren advises him to confess, and that in love, one is ready for anything. But in the end, all this cost Lissa and Viren their separation. The scene where he slams her against the wall, I was afraid he was going to hit her. As for the fact that he doesn't give Soren the letter. I think it's because it's the truth, but would Soren be able to take it and understand it? Just as Cosmos understood that by telling the truth, he demoralized Callum.
I started reading puzzle house, and I noticed something. There seems to be an age mismatch... In S6, soren looks about 6 ish. Claudia about 4... in the flashback that Lissa leaves. Which is preceded by kppar's disappearance. Soren is shown that young when Viren saved him. (Image credits : @raayllum and @stuck-in-jelly ) look how young soren is! And claudia is teeny weeny!
BUT IN PUZZLE HOUSE.... there's a scene between King Atticus (What a lovely man) and Viren.... he asks Viren how he is doing out of genuine concern!
(Pardon the picture quality my camera is not so great)
THE FOLOW UP OF THE SAME INCIDENT THAT IS IN VIREN'S FLASHBACKS!!!! BUT SOREN LOOKS ABOUT 10ISH AND CLAUDIA ABOUT 8ISH!
Now it is very much possible that the puzzle house happens very much later. Like after a time skip.
Also to note: claudia was given kppar's spellbook. Tge kids had been to his house multiple times atleast to mention "he never let us enter his tower". Also Atticus asks the question as if it all happened fairly recently. Means tge flashback of s6 happened pretty close to the time of puzzle house no? But soren and claudia look older to me...
Wouldn't it make more sense if soren and claudia were a little older than how they are shown in s6 flashbacks to have known kppar! If soren is saved at an older age it would still work.
I don't know if it was a mismatch between the two departments handling the production of the season and the graphic novel. But their ages don't line up... like if all of those flashbacks of s6 happened with a little older claudia and soren, they would remember that incident much more strongly, and that is fitting for character!
I see three possibilities...
A) This is truly a mistake and there was a mismatch between the teams that made the season and the novel.
B) This is deliberate! They showed the flashbacks through Viren's POV. And maybe its the "to parents their children are always young" or this is just how he is seeing them in the memory of that incident now. Memories become distorted over time... we don't remember details and when we recall, we fill their place with details of how we felt that incident to be like, which is sometimes not what it actually was.... Viren's guilt makes him look at himself like the terrible man who hurt his two innocent children. And what better way to make a child look innocent than to literally age them down! Look at this image of claudia from one of the short stories... here she looks about her puzzle house age, seeing Lissa leave.
So it is true that the puzzle house ages are reality and the flashback ages are Viren's projections of his children as how innocent they were when he hurt their family. I AM ONTO SOMETHING HERE, I REALLY WANT THIS TO BE TRUE!
C) I could be wrong at judging character ages too (in that case it would be a bummer cuz what sort of animation student am I then?)
But what do you guys think? I am leaning towards the ages being shown that way is deliberate...
The Dragon Prince (Theory)
There are already some theories that Aaravos could use the last quasar diamond to revive Leola. But I think it will be used for someone else. Hear me out.
First: Aaravos, Runaan, Tiadrin and Lain weren't completely dead. Yes, their souls were detached from their bodies and put in a kind of limbo or purgatory, but they were still on the threshold. We see that something similar must have been done to Aaravos since after Claudia freed him he takes a deep breath, just like Runaan. This symbolises that they're back in the land of the living.
Leola's soul on the other hand was completely separated from her body. Even if we say that it doesn't matter for a Startouch elve when their mortal shell gets destroyed - since it is enough that their constellation aligns again, to form a new one - it's apparently still necessary that their soul reamians between the stars. Which isn't the case with Leola. Her soul seems to be somewhere else, already beyond the purgatory. For the sake of simplicity, I will call it heaven.
In this case, we can assume that a quasar diamond wouldn't be enough to bring her back. If this is what Aaravos is planning to do.
Second: It was Aaravos himself who said that he likes to plan ahead. And he planned all of what's happening now since cetures. It would be an idiotic mistake on his part to just ensure getting one quasar diamond if he needed two.
If Callum and Rayla had used both quasar diamonds the most crucial part of his plan would already fail. He wouldn't take the risk. If Aaravos knows how to bring Leola back then we can assume he will choose a different method. Either there's an even rarer object than the quasar diamonds, it needs to be created first or everything will have to do something with dark magic.
To use dark magic one needs to sacrifice something or someone. The more is at stake, the greater the sacrifice. What if Aaravos needs the life essence of all other remaining Startouched elves to revive his daughter? We know he couldn't stop them from killing her, so, we know he alone has no chance against the others. He would need something else. Something that would grant him the power to overpower them. Which could result in taking the lives of humans and elves. The force needed to bring Leola back could be even world-destroying.
Last but not least: I think that when Callum and Ezran arrive in Katolis they will find a tiny, shinty object between the rubble. Something that once "belonged" to Viren. Precisely a golden coin.
My theory is that they will use the last quasar diamond to free Kpp'Ar, Viren's former mentor who himself was a dark mage, but decided against using it. I think that he will help them against Aaravos. He loves puzzles and to integrate them into human architecture. There is also a third story "The Puzzle Hous". I don't think this was just created for the sake of making the man more interesting. And it wouldn't be the first time that a puzzle was a villain's downfall. Of course, I don't think this will be the solution, but I think it will have its part in a bigger plan.
