"If you..." Yuri began, his quivering lip adding an audible shake to his words. "If you were still captain...this wouldn't have happened..."
Ruby placed a comforting hand on his arm. "Yuri..."
"If you were still in charge...they could have just told you to control your clumsy vice-captain, and the mission...and our funding..." Tiny drops that shined like crystals slowly rolled down his cheeks. "And...Jiro..."
"Yuri, they probably would have removed it from our control regardless. They're just using Jiro as an excuse."
"But...I'm the one that...!"
Her other hand grabbed his opposite shoulder, giving him a little shake as if to goad him to look at her.
After a moment, he did so reluctantly.
"What's done is done. We can't sit around thinking about the 'what-ifs'. They're jerks and you know it."
He said nothing, teal gaze falling to nowhere.
With a sigh, she softened her gaze. "I'm not mad. Not at you."
"But...you caught it too..."
"And it's a damn shame, isn't it?"
"..."
"I'm not mad, I mean it. Unless you really plan to hand me over to Nicholas."
His lips parted, but nothing came out.
"I'm sure he can beat around the bush and eventually scare the pests away. But right now, Mina and I both need a doctor that can cure us."
Finally, he met her eyes, a drowned determination struggling back to the surface.
"And who knows more about anomolous conditions than our very own captain of Mortkranken?"
"..."
"The great Isami Yuri."
As if he couldn't handle the emotion passing to him, his head flicked away, and he moved to wipe his face the the palm of his glove.
Seeing as he needed a little more time to gather himself, she chose to wait long enough for the words to sink in. She gave his arm a pat. "Come on, let's check on Jiro."
“You’d do best not to stick your nose in places it doesn’t belong.”

An expert doctor with a lazy streak, always making time for frequent breaks between her vigorous work. Though gruff and detached, she still handles matters of the lab with utmost care. Some theorize she was a hellion in the past.
Other:
Nicknames: N/A
Height: 5’5”
Made from the OG Ruby, from a zombie apocalypse AU.
She is a ghoul. Her stigma is invoked with “Valu”. It causes everyone in a certain radius to look directly at her. If they’re already looking at her, it will cause them to look in the complete opposite direction. This can be stacked once before it simply doesn’t take effect anymore.
People tend to overlook her and sometimes even seem to forget she’s standing nearby.
She is a licensed physician that graduated at the top of her class.
She was the former Captain of Mortkranken, but willingly gave it up to Yuri.
During the Clash, she lost her “most important person” and cut off the students in her year for several months.
Unlike other Mortkranken students, she enjoys being active. However, she’s not very sporty.
She used to dance ballet, but now only does so in secret as a hobby. Leo posted a video of her at some point though, so it’s not so secret anymore.
She’s not close to her parents, nor her younger brother.
There’s a large set of scars on her left arm covered by a tattoo of a snake. She tends to cover it, because the design of the tattoo, she’s noticed, makes people uneasy.
She claims that a friend gave her the tattoo to cover the nasty scar.
It appears she’ll sometimes refer to herself in third person.
You could say she's ambidextrous.
Her artifact's special ability is that the snake ornament on the blunt end of the staff can enlarge and act as a sort of surfboard. She can use it to drift across moving surfaces, but can't go against the flow of it.

Secrets:
This Ruby is actually a biologically perfect clone of the original Ruby Haida.
OG Ruby made a demonic pact and wished for a twin sister. From her own severed arm, Our Ruby was formed.
OG Ruby kept Our Ruby a secret, and Our Ruby grew envious of the fact that OG Ruby was able to live a life outside of a room. Our Ruby made her own demonic pact after that, as well as began setting up a plan to kill the original and take her place.
At the last minute, Our Ruby realized she had made a mistake, and tried to stop the murder from happening. However, she was too late. As a result of trying to interfere, her left arm was severely injured.
The surgeries and recovery from the damage have permanently scarred her inner-arm, and she can no longer fully bend or extend her left arm and hand. She used to be left-handed exclusively.
Feeling guilty of taking OG Ruby away from the few people in her life that were close to her, Our Ruby took it upon herself to live in her stead as if it was an impersonator that had died instead.
OG Ruby was very studious and wanted to be a doctor, but Our Ruby liked to sneak out and hang with delinquents. Some of them remained her friends as she went through medical school.
Our Ruby was given a different name when she was “born”/cognizant, but she has since discarded the name.
She is ashamed to talk about the murder because she feels like it happened “for no good reason”, and haunts her to this day.
Since looking into her background, Nicholas has been suspicious of her, and she's aware of his desire to investigate her further. She hasn't revealed this to anyone, and doesn't plan to, but tends to avoid him like the plague when able.
I like to think that the KrankenKrew has the best teamwork, but the thing is that they have to. Yuri and Ruby are both licensed doctors, and Jiro assists them in everything including surgery. They have to be capable of leaving their bickering and drama at the door when it matters. And I think all of them (especially Jiro) are good at this, even Ruby who isn't particularly that fond of her occupation. They take their jobs very seriously at the most important times and I love that for them.
Yuri calling Ruby "Captain" after they first transferred the title to him, and her laughing about it because he's adorable. She then informs him that she'll still call him "Yuri-kun" because he's her "adorable underclassman".
Ruby making or vetoing decisions, and Yuri and Jiro both go along with it despite the fact that Yuri could exercise his power as captain.
Yuri making serious plans, especially when using his stigma, and Ruby and Jiro trust him implicitly.
Jiro and Ruby working extremely well in battle and are receptive to each others' ideas on evolving strategies.
Ruby knowing when to step aside and let the boys handle things.
Yuri knowing when to trust Ruby and leave things to her since she's both a 3rd year and the former captain.
Jiro tending to both of the doctors (when Ruby is working overtime too) when they pass out from exhaustion.
Ruby having to scream at Yuri and scare him into behaving, but gently admonishing Jiro when he acts up.
Jiro and Ruby having to stop each other from being violent.
Ruby fond of seeing Jiro enjoying himself (like battling beetles in the lab) and getting to have moments of normalcy.
Ruby (and maybe Jiro) secretly getting a little non-lethal revenge on those who try to mess with her boys.
Jiro and Ruby both being morbid as fuck.
Ruby trusting Jiro's medical knowledge/advice even when Yuri won't listen. (Then probably scolding him later for it.)
Yuri singing classical music, Ruby blasting the heaviest shit through her earphones, Jiro somehow managing in complete silence (or with only both of those things in the background).
Yuri questioning Ruby's choice of music with disgust.
The occasional moments where Ruby joins in Yuri's singing of classical songs. (Jiro taps on stuff to keep the beat.)
Yuri, Jiro, and Ruby all helping one another with their own research.
All three of them respecting their own lab spaces.
