the existence of chara dreemurr as a character is still so fucking wild to me btw. like they could have just been the human from asriel's backstory who made some not-so-great decisions with conflicting motivations, and that already would have made them a pretty interesting character that haunted the narrative!

but toby fox instead decided to make them actually literally haunt the game itself through the narration. so many lines of narration that take on a completely different meaning if viewing it from their point of view. through the flashbacks of THEIR memories with Asriel. and in a geno route, through how they gain more and more power over the game itself until the end. they are with you, with frisk, throughout your entire journey, no matter what choices you make.

they are sosososo important to undertale as a character whose presence can very easily be missed, especially on a first playthrough. i dont think their story would hit the same otherwise.
