(tumblr ate part of my post the first time, sorry!) today 8 people in the office i work in were laid off, and 13 others were let go too.

they get to work through the end of the month, and they all get pretty good severance packages (a weeks worth of pay for every year with the company, they are able to cash out their 401ks, get their vacation time, and three months of job assistance but 6 months of being able to apply for internal-only positions). that makes it easier financially, but i know there were a lot of hurt feelings and shock today at work.

in true corporate fashion, right after we got the email saying “fyi, these guys are being laid off, wanted you to hear it from us,” we got an email for the fucking holiday party. WHO CARES ABOUT A FUCKING HOT CHOCOLATE PARTY WHEN YOU JUST LAID OFF A TON OF PEOPLE? i mean, for fuck’s sake, that was low.

i’m pretty sure my job is safe until february, but we’ll see! i spent the day listening to music and clenching my jaw and reminding myself that getting laid off wouldn’t be the worst thing. 

weirdly enough, i’m kind of really into this song right now. my husband is really into krishna das, and i ran into this song in a youtube k-hole.
