Kriss Does Evil Author Day 2020

[Posting this now instead of tomorrow because I’ve got stuff to do tomorrow and won’t have time.]

As I hinted before, I’ve decided to participate in Evil Author Day this year. The basic premise is that I share with you some of the WIPs I’ve got languishing on my computer, waiting for me to have the right inspiration/drive to finish them. Hopefully reading them 

a) Is a nice treat for you guys and you enjoy some new content

b) weeding through my work trying to find what to share with you, maybe I’ll even get around to finishing some of these *she hopes*

Anyhow, the following works are a variety of different ‘verses and involve different characters. It’s not all SasuSaku, but all the characters are fan favorites so there is something for everything. 

And in the end, I’ve included links to what I’ve been writing in DC/Batman fandom for the JayTim (because they’re my babies and I love them and their vibe is so similar to the one I write with Itachi/Shisui that it’s easy to transition between the two :D :D :D).

I’ve Officially Started Publishing Original Fiction!

The position of emperor’s court mage was never meant to be more than an advisory one, with the occasional protection spell thrown in. Yet somehow, Korbinian Hof finds himself assigned a secret mission to the southern reaches of the empire to investigate potential treason, dark magic and a dragon of all things.

Joined by a growing cadre or travel companions he is not entirely sure he can trust, Korbin soon discovers his task is more complicated than he first thought, hampered by assassination attempts, spells that should not exist and legendary beasts that can reduce the empire to a barren wasteland.

But no pressure, right?

As of November 1, I will start posting my original stories on my Patreon account (https://www.patreon.com/kuriworlds). 

I have been working on my own novel for a while now, in bits and pieces while I was working, and then while I have been off work for disability. I’ve decided that since I have managed to update small one-shots and a few chapters of my WIPS, there’s no reason I can’t dedicate some time to my original work.

And a lot of people have been trying to convince me to let them read my original stories for a while now, so...

Let’s give it a try!

I’m starting with the one novel I am currently in the middle of, which is a fantasy (those of you who enjoyed my story Telanadas will definitely enjoy this one!) and I have two others half-way outlined, including a superhero adventure and the novel I promised based on the Indra and Shachi. 

As I get more organized about all of this, I’ll be better able to block out time to work on all of this.

Why am I doing this?

Other than the fact I love to write and really want to share my work with everyone?

In the short run, I’d like to make enough money to afford to pay some bills, then get my own apartment. 

In the long run, and professionally, I’d like to be able to hire people who can help me publish and circulate my work (editors, cover designer, ads, etc.). I really want to make a go of writing in a professional capacity.

Why only November 1?

I have a lot of planning to do via chapters, creating art, linking up my social media accounts, etc. I’m also in the midst of ghostwriting for some extra cash, and planning out my pieces for the SasuSaku fanzines.

What does this mean for your fanfiction?

Absolutely nothing. I will still be writing fanfic, mostly one-shots or fic requests for now. As soon as I have a reliable source of income and don’t have to stress too much about expenses, I’ll give more attention to my WIPs.

What does this change for my current backers on Patreon?

I know I was originally offering writing critiques and feedback, but that was just a placeholder while I decided how I really wanted to approach the Patreon thing. To those of you who have been subscribing there, the only change is that you’ll actually be getting something for your lovely donation :)

BECOME A PATRON

As you guys know, I’m going to start posting original work to my patreon this month. I’m hoping to post the first bunch of content on Nov 1st, though I might not get to it until Nov 3rd due to family stuff.

My current project is a fantasy novel with the working title Korbin’s Crows, which I started working on while writing Telanadas, so it will have a similar feel. If you enjoyed that fic, you’ll enjoy this story!

I will be posting my unedited chapters as I write them, along with character concept art, bios, realm maps, sketches and other miscellaneous according to whatever payment tier you choose. Assuming I’ve got this tier thing figured out, 3$/month gets you access to any chapters I put up, whether I publish 1 chapter or 4 chapters per month. There will always be at least 1 chapter per month, but I am really aiming for weekly updates.

My goals here are to a) start earning some money writing my own stories and b) get this story edited and published into a book that can actually be purchased online. I probably won’t use amazon, since they treat their writers pretty badly, but once I figure out what platform I want to sell on, or whether I intend to make my own website a la Kelley Armstrong, you guys will be the first to know!

As I gain more momentum, other stories will also be posted to my patreon as well. I’m starting out with the fantasy novel, since that’s where my headspace has been, but I’ve got a superhero novel and the story based on my Indra/Shachi mythos outlined almost completely. 

It goes without saying that if every one of my followers just contributed a dollar, I’d probably be able to afford a new place to live and spend all my free time writing fanfiction, but I know many of you may not be in the right place financially to help out. Regardless, your support is greatly appreciated and every little bit helps! If you can’t afford to become a patron, please please PLEASE boost the signal and recommend my work to friends, relatives, or even coworkers!
