For the first time in more than 1.5 years, I am abroad again and on my wanderlust-y adventures! And it’s off to a great start. The photo above is an example of where I have seen God’s tangible blessings already. On the SIA flight over to Tokyo, I was in a seat where the screen wasn’t playing movies/videos properly. I told the air stewardess and asked if I could change to another seat with a working screen for some of the flight. She checked and came back and told me the only spare seat was in between two men in the middle section, so I may not feel very comfortable there (I was currently in a window seat next to two Japanese schoolgirls). She said she would try resetting my screen again, and I thanked her and told her if it didn’t work, it was okay - I would just stay in my seat and sleep.

She went off to reset it, and I tried it again but no avail. I was getting mighty sleepy from the meal at this point anyway, so I curled up and dozed off. Not sure how long I was out for, but probably less than an hour. As soon as I awoke, rubbing my neck and running my hand through my messed up hair, she appeared again and handed me voucher. It was a SGD$75 voucher for use in the KrisWorld (SIA’s inflight) shop, as compensation for the dud screen. I thanked her and smiled, immediately pulling out the catalogue to see what I could possibly get. As I thought, as lot of the goods in there were in the 3 or 4-digit price tag, and some were really completely random (ballerina shoes? really?) In the end, I settled on a perfume set from a brand I like and was closest to the voucher value.

So, while I was a little bummed that I couldn’t watch anything on this flight, I managed to score a really stylish perfume set in the end. I’m happy with the service I received and more than that, loved seeing how something seemingly bad can still be turned into something good.
