I think the "Ayanami being Teito's biological uncle" thing is the cruelest plot twist ever. Not because it seems to happen all of sudden, but because I somehow get how conflicted Teito might feel when he know about this. He hate that guy but he's still one of his family, the reminder of his legacy. So no matter how many war crimes Ayanami had done, or that he killed that young man's father who also being his older brother, Teito can't just let him die and fall in to the void.
But that's not even the worst part.
The final moment when Ayanami's body began to revert as birds (pigeon or something?) represented that his sins are forgiven is something beyond my understanding. It feels like the mangakas trying to tell us that even the most evil person still has a chance to get God's forgiveness. But still, for how deep his involvement in Raggs War, the amount of people he killed alongside Black Hawk, and also the assassination of the top ranked military officers, for reaching someone he had longed to meet again (aka. Eve). Not to mention that he never regret his sins. And I just-
I can't comprehend it.
