I need to make at least one dwarf fortress video... I've generated a world, I've found a location I like, and I have a freshly wiped computer with loads of storage for videos.

Now I just need to mentally prepare myself to do it...

I need to as in I really want to and I think it would be fun.

It'll be a slightly western influenced type deal, but a mostly normal fort in a badlands/mountain edge.

I have plenty of experience in sound design and video editing so I am hopeful that it won't be lacking in that area. While I don't have the artistic skills of kruggsmash (I fucking love that beautiful bearded bastard) or the established platform of the other YouTubers who play rimworld and factorio and do a single gimmick episode of dwarf fortress or the community of BlindIRL (please unban me from your discord), I'm eager to try my hand at showing off dwarf fortress and my skills as an editor, writer, sound designer, and epic gamer.

Hello Dwarf Fortress enjoyers. We all love Kruggsmash. Man, I wish there were more people making content like he does. OH WAIT! Look what I found! Story Dwarves is a youtube channel that started some time last year making Dwarf Fortress videos. Similar vibe to early Kruggsmash stuff. I keep thinking about that line from Splatterface, years later. It's a series about a death tournament between all sorts of inhuman creatures, and that line comes from one of the final bouts. One of the finalists was revealed to have laid a clutch of eggs during the tournament. The other finalist nearly defeated her, but instead of killing her he says that line. And it's just lodged in my brain forever now.

Crundle: a tiny underground monster with large claws and horns. It walks on 2 legs and is dangerous when encountered in large numbers. His scales are crimson, his eyes are black.

This critter that looks like the spawn of a lesser demon and a potato is from the latest dwarf fortress series (Glacier’s eye) to come from kruggsmash. From the first time his render popped up I thought these stupid guys were hilarious and adorable. I’ve been feeling in the createy mood lately so I busted this silly sculpt out.

Kruggsmash reached out to me after posting my first DF video to Reddit and we had a nice chat in the Twitter DMs. He says I'm doing great so far and I'm like... dude you're the one who inspired me to start uploading these so your encouragement means a lot. He was worried that I might find the work that he puts into his videos daunting but I assured him that I know my limits for production value.
